O que você fará
Making Your Own Herbal Remedies ... Herbs are the oldest form of medicine. Did you know that one of the first medicines, Aspirin was created in 1897 from a plant called meadowsweet? Your host Melanie is a passionate Master Herbalist who's worked with natural medicine for 25 years. Clavering is first found in the 11th century as Claefring, meaning ‘the place where the clover grows’, and what better way to both discover this beautiful Medieval village and its local flora, than to go for a walk? So we begin by following one of the lovely nature trails in this historic village and weather dependant, we will spend up to an hour outside walking and stopping often to discuss many of the common wild plants en route. During our walk we will also be foraging some of the plants we find to make a herbal first aid salve as well as a tasty cup of fresh medicinal herbal tea with Melanie's expert guidance. You'd be amazed at the world of medicine and nutrition all around us. We will then return to prepare our bounty whilst learning more about the special properties each herb offers us. You will leave having been immersed in Nature and seeing the 'weeds' around you in a new light.. and you'll be empowered to create your own natural, effective medicine to improve your health and wellbeing, as well as that of your family and friends. You also take home the salve that's made as a bonus!
I'm a qualified Master Herbalist & Wholistic Health Coach and have been working in the Health & Wellbeing field for 25 years. I'm so passionate about herbs and natural medicine that I founded the Herbcraft Academy in 2004 and have been teaching a variety of workshops, experiential days and an accredited professional diploma in Herbcraft since then. I run Nature's Pharmacy (an online herbal mail order pharmacy) as well as the Serenity Healing Clinic from my home in Clavering and see clients from all over the south of England. I am also an international speaker and teacher on Herbal medicine, Iridology and Healing techniques and am in the process of writing my first series of books! I've lived in Clavering for almost 17 years but grew up in Saffron Walden, just 7 miles down the road from my current home, so definitely a local girl.

Onde você estará
We'll walk locally in the neighbourhood to discover a wealth of medicinal and nutritional weeds around us. We'll likely visit the local meadow, once site of Clavering Castle, (earliest castle in east of England), pass the medieval church and may also pass the Cricketers Inn, where Jamie Oliver learned to cook. We will follow one of the nature walks to forage our plants. We will then 'make medicine' at Melanie's home on the edge of the village.
