I have been walking the Melbourne Causeway for 20+ years. I have run a marathon in every US state and on every continent, even Antarctica! I have inspired numerous friends, family and colleagues to participate in walking or running for health. Today I prefer to walk the causeway and I would love to share that experience with visitors to our area. Please join me for an hour in the morning…

We will meet at a public parking lot close by the Melbourne Causeway. We will do some stretching exercises and drink some cold water before we start. We will walk east across the causeway at a comfortable pace. When we reach the top of the bridge we will take a few moments to look out onto the Indian River Lagoon, take photos and enjoy the view. We will walk as far as you’re comfortable. Remember to bring a hat and sun glasses. Wear comfortable athletic shoes and socks. I’ll bring some cold water for you. Don’t forget your camera.

The Melbourne Causeway carries US 192 east from Melbourne to Indialantic. It is 0.7 miles long, and 1 mile from the parking lot across the bridge one way. The bridge spans the Indian River Lagoon. It has protected sidewalks with concrete barriers. There is free parking and bathrooms at the west end of the bridge.
