This workshop is held in the most vibrant and exotic chef's market in Mexico City, the famous San Juan Mercardo! This market is prehispanic and has been in existence for over 500 years! *As seen on TV*

Learn how to make an authentic MASA dough to make Tortillas, Sopes, Quesadillas as well as a classic chili salsa and a variety of delicious fillings.

A tour and brief history of the market will also be given, you will see native and international fruits, meats, vegetables, prehispanic foods such as insects, gourmet salsas, as well as many exotic types of meats on sale; Lion, Tiger, Deer, Amadilos, Crocodile, Skunk, and other delights such as ant egg quesadillas, Mezcals, wines, beers and cheese.

Our trained local Mexican chef (my business partner) will guide the workshop, you will get hands-on experience in making the tortillas yourself. You will learn what it means to make a good and authentic tortilla, Sopes and Quesadilla, handmade and pressed. You can taste the difference and our guests have all said they will be taking these recipes back home!

Are you a meat-eater, vegetarian, or VEGAN? No problem! We have delicious options for all preferences such as Cecina, Flor de la Calabaza, Nopales and other seasonal fresh ingredients.

The workshop/kitchen is in the center of San Juan Mercardo. This is the most famous market in Mexico City, where the top chefs buy their fresh and exotic produce. You will see an array of prehispanic and gourmet stalls serving insects such as scorpions, ant eggs, Chapulines (crickets) and exotic meats such as Lion, Tiger Crocodile, plus wines, cheeses, cured and fresh meat, plus much more! This market is a must to see during your stay!

DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND BOOK THIS EXPERIENCE! The market tour was awesome. You can tell that Michaella has such a great relationship with the vendors. They were all very friendly and loved her and offered us some delicious samples. We tried a lot of things from exotic fruits to bugs. She was super knowledgable and the tour was very interesting! The cooking part of the class was perfect. They were so accommodating, friendly, welcoming. Rahul, is a great chef, and has such great vibes. He put a smile on everyone's face. This was definitely a highlight of our 9 day trip in Mexico City.

Michaella and his friend was very keen to share their culture!!!! it Was very likeable to get so many informations about the rare products from the San Juan Mercado!!!!! We ate the authentique tortillas with the different local product. I highly recommend this experience !!!!

Great experience! Actually learning about the market and getting to sample different things was awesome, and made it a lot better than if we just walked through the market ourselves. Also the food and recipes were fantastic!

Michaela and Raul have a worthwhile market and taco making tour. Both are knowledgeable and happy to talk about Mexican cuisine - small details to large concepts. The food is very good. The market and its history is unique to the city which makes your 3hrs go by even faster. If you enjoy making food, learning how to do it well, and eating delicious tacos after - do the tour.

The tour moved at a excellent pace, interweaving the host’s personal stories and historical culinary information. The host was friends with many of the market vendors who gave us an overwhelming amount of samples from exotic fruits to insects to spices. 100% recommend.

This is a workshop/cooking class, will do not provide individual cooking stations. You will get hands-on with the Tortilla/Quesadilla and Gordita making and the salsa, and some light cooking.
