O que você fará

We will do a walking tour (wear comfortable shoes!) from Riverside through Leslieville. As early as the 1700s, the area has been home to gangs, rogues, heroes, sailors, the underground railroad, brickworks and more. Home to film studios, million-dollar homes & some of the best restaurants in the city, we will explore what makes Leslieville and Riverside the area so many love.

We will also stop in at three local beer breweries & enjoy some exceptional local beers. You will need to bring a face mask as per local by-laws, we will also practice social distancing guidelines, so we are all safe.

Payment & gratuities at all breweries are part of the tour so you just relax and enjoy!
Other things to note
I recommend you eat before your tour. Nothing spicy!

You may wish to bring a small snack as food availability at breweries may be limited due to Covid19.

Feel free to bring a bottle of water! Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes, bring your curiosity & feel free to take photos.

I've been passionate about local history, the characters, the legends & people who make our area unique for almost two decades.

As a local resident, I've seen the area evolve & change & love sharing stories with others in a fun and entertaining way. As a trained actor & professional photographer, I always have stories to share!

My goal is for you to have fun & learn what makes this area so popular while discovering some amazing locally made beers.

Onde você estará

We will see where locally made items were made that were shipped around the world: tires, parachutes, chewing gum, toys, toothpaste, soaps, catalogues, leather goods, maps & more.

Learn about a few infamous crimes, where the underground railroad ended, famous gang hangouts, the long-forgotten execution site & where Canada's first national anthem was penned...and of course, some amazing beers to sample.

Ian was a great host for the Leslieville-Riverside history tour. As a visitor to Toronto, I very much appreciated the opportunity to get out of downtown and explore a different area. I learned a lot about a super interesting area of Toronto and stopped for some great beer along the way. I would definitely recommend this tour if you are a frequent visitor to Toronto but have never had the chance to explore the history of the area.

Such a enjoyable afternoon. The beer was delicious and each brewery that we stopped at had a fantastic selection making it difficult to select which beer to sample. The history tour was very interesting there were so many interesting facts that were identified over countless topics and eras. I highly recommend if you are a first time visitor or a long time resident of the city or the area, I am definitely planing to go again next time I am in the area, although I will attempt to try different beers.

I realize that, even though I've been living in Toronto for almost 30 years, there's a ton of history that I am completely oblivious to. This was a tour that tough me a great deal about the rich history of Lesliville/East side. It's obvious that Ian's done a lot of research, so he's a very knowledgeable guide. If he ever decides to do a tour of another part of the city, I'm in for it. Craft breweries are a definite bonus. As a craft beer drinker who lives on the West side of the city, I don't think I would've come to the East side just for the beer. But if you ever consider that - it is totally worth it.

Our group of three had a great time hearing the stories and history of the area. It was a unique tour that showed some of the gritty history of the area in contrast with the liveliness and culture of the neighbourhood today. Although we were pretty familiar with this part of Toronto - this was all new information to us. We really enjoyed the beer stops along the way and we found it was a good balance of history, walking and beer - making for an educational, entertaining and thirst-quenching day. We would recommend this tour to visitors to Toronto and locals alike as this was more like the hidden history of the area with places off the beaten path. Two people from our group live in Toronto and we loved it. Thanks Ian for taking us on this interesting journey.
