O que você fará

Before lunch of rice, chicken, fish and vegetables all cooked in bamboo, test yourself at a blowpipe competition and a puzzle solving game known as ‘Jah re Noi’. I’m Khen, the founder of LokaLocal - it connects travelers to authentic local experiences in Malaysia, crafted by locals. This experience is co-hosted by one of our local experts - Raman.

Raman, 48, is a Semai tribesman who was raised in the jungle. For the most part, he lives off the land, and often gets involved in community-related activities. Since 2011, he has been working to empower the indigenous people and revive the dying Orang Asli cultural heritage.

I’ve travelled widely and am really into tours; the usual foodie and sightseeing stuff but I also like to do tours that help me connect to the people or a culture new to me. This excursion was really fabulous and my son and I really enjoyed doing it together. The tour leader Khen Chan made the logistics very easy for us and was a really nice guy who went out of his way to make us welcome. The tour itself was exactly as described... we were in the jungle near KL with friendly Indiginous Malay people who we helped prepare our lunch meal and engage in several survival tasks ... but it was the chatter, friendliness and generally spending time chilling with nice, knowledgeable and happy local people in the jungle that we enjoyed most. We heartedly recommend this tour if you want to spend some time out of the big city with local people who have put together a simple but enjoyable day of survival activities ... and it was good fun.

It was a really interesting experience and I learned a lot about the Malay Aborigines. It’s different to all the other experiences in Kuala Lumpur. Raman and his daughters were very friendly and helpful. All in all it was great.
