Much of society has become disconnected from the the natural world. Many people feel stressed or anxious on a regular basis. There is research showing that spending time in nature, forest bathing, can address these symptoms. The trees can help us feel healthier! Known in Japan as Shinrin Yoku, this forest bathing session will awaken your senses and deepen your connection with nature as I guide you through a series of invitations crafted to help us disconnect from our busy minds and lives. Our 2.5 hour walk begins with a brief introduction to forest bathing. Then I will guide you through a mindfulness practice designed to get you in touch with your senses and the present moment. Followed by a slow wander through the trees, we will simply notice what is going on around us. Next we will take part in one or two more invitations designed to help us rediscover our connection to nature. We conclude the walk with a tea ceremony and snacks. In between each invitation we will have the opportunity to share about our experience (not mandatory). At the end of the walk we will feel relaxed and rejuvenated and have a renewed sense of awe for the natural world.
I am the founder of Forest Walk With Me. I became a certified forest therapy guide with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) and I graduated from the Wild Leaders program which taught leadership and survival skills through nature connection models. A former massage therapist, I am dedicated to helping people find healing and balance in their well being. Through Forest Therapy I am able to combine my love of nature and passion for helping others into an immersive outdoor experience that deepens the connection between the participant and the natural world.

We'll be walking and wandering through a small grove of trees in the Shope Creek watershed area and continuing on to explore a portion of the creek itself. At the end of the walk we will sit in the grove and enjoy freshly brewed tea and a snack. Shope Creek is part of the Pisgah National Forest in the Appalachian Mountains.
