O que você fará

We will take you to a traditional Maasai village where the families of the Maasai Warriors will host you.

During the experience, a few songs will be be sung to welcome you to the village. After the singing it is time for a traditional Maasai dance called the jumping dance. This dance is done to prove a man's worth to that of a woman. The higher you jump, the better chance you be having to win over a ladies heart! (Or that of a man!).
After the dancing has ended, you will enter the village. Here you will be taken for a private tour to see the traditional homes from inside, and you will take a look at the local market where the women and men have worked hard on making their art. The lifestyle of the people will be further explained and you are welcome to see the local blacksmith at work to see how the knifes and spears for battle are being made.

Note that: We can also arrange for you an overnight stay withing in the village itself! It is whatever you prefer, either a night at Oseki Maasai Mara Camp or a night hosted by one of the Maasai families! This helps to support the families first hand and will provide you with a more personal stay and experience in the Mara.
Other things to note
Note that: the transport from Nairobi is not included in the price. We use Moran trails adventures for transport. Contact +254714078970/+2540722 743855 or osekimaasaimaracamp@gmail.com for more info.

Day 2
On the second day (or depending on your own initary), you will join a traditional Maasai warrior on a nature walk in the bush. On the walk the uses of the plants, wild flowers and the trees will be explained. We will also teach you how to track wild animals and how to recognise the different sounds of the birds.
Other things to note
We work together with Moran trails adventures for transport arrangments (to & from Nairobi or elsewhere). Contact: +254714078970 or +254722 743855 or mail: osekimaasaracamp@gmail.com for more info.

Day 3
This experience is created to help the women from the Maasai Mara and for you to learn about their lifestyle and artwork. They are very keen on making jewellery and other items made out of beadwork, fabric, wood or cowbone. The purpose of the experience is to sit down with these women to talk about their lives and help them with their beadwork, it's a great cultural exchange! At the end you can take one of your selfmade bracelets home but it would be lovely if you could support the women some more as they really dedicate a huge amount of their time to their art and beadwork and deserve to be reckognised for that!

Here is a top 5 of things you didn't know about Maasai beadwork:

1. The beaded ornaments represent Maasai cultural values and traditions.
2. Maasai beadwork has been in the existence for hundreds of years.
3. Beads weren't the original material used.
4. Maasai beadwork is worn according to the age and social status of an individual.
5. Different colors hold special meanings.

To learn more about this, come and see for yourself!

This adventure far exceeded our expectations, the Maasai were all extremely polite, very sincere and genuine. Our time spent together was educational and inciteful, they shared their experiences and their culture and kept us interested throughout. If you want to experience a life changing adventure, I would highly recommend this for all ages. A special thank you to Dennis, Peter, Lawrence and Solomon who made this a memorable adventure.

The trip with Dennis and his team was incredible and unique. Everyone who worked at the camp was super friendly and we learned a lot about the Masai culture from them. The hike, game drive and welcome at the village was wonderful. We had the best time and saw so many animals and meet some many great people-Thank You.

Words can’t even describe how amazing this experience was. The Maasai warriors were the most hospitable and friendly hosts who shared real accounts of their lives with us. The accommodation was simple and neat and appropriate for the village setting. The food was INCREDIBLE and plentiful. We had the chance to go on a nature walk where we learnt how to use a bow and arrow. We also learnt more about the local plants and herbs used for medicinal purposes. We had the most amazing game drive and saw an abundance of animals in the most beautiful setting. I’ve been on many game drives in my life but this was by far the most breathtaking one. We went to the village where we dressed up in traditional wear and were exposed to some of the daily duties the Maasai do and we danced and jumped! The only thing I would tell other guests is that they should budget additional money for activities such as the game drive ($150 for the car and $80pp for the park entrance) and the village visit was also not free (1000 Kenyan shillings). There was also a market where Maasai items were being sold so bring extra cash for that too. Thank you to Dennis and Anne. You gave us the richest experience. I recommend everyone try this out for themselves.
