O que você fará

Honor the land, return to the Origin

What kind of mind could have created, with such patience and refinement, a region like ours?

Oaxaca could well be a fictitious city, a space invented by fables, artisans, anthropologists and poets over many years.

At the end of the day, the fantastic and the real do not necessarily have a precise limit, at least this is not the case in Oaxaca.

Immerse yourself in the daily life of the zapotec culture that make Oaxaca so unique. Let me show you the riches of our abundant land, our culture, our gastronomy, and of course our talented and creative hardworking people who know that on this earth God never dies.

We will visiting this areas:
-Teotitlán del Valle (Artisans Workshops and Main square of the village)
-Tacolula de Matamoros (Visit the market and get a delicious barbacoa to recover energy)
- Santiago Matatlán (Palenque and Mezcal Tasting)

In this travel you will find good music, good food, a lot of laughs, so much love, and a good mezcal to toast what you have experienced.

My name is Rodrigo Cruz i have been living in Oaxaca for 29 years. My parents always took me to discover the villages of Oaxaca, they show me their traditions and their festivities and i always get surprised of how rich is the culture of my city. I studied communication where i acquired the skills to talk about the culture of my city making sure that everyone is comfortable and having fun. I love sharing experiences that leave a mark.

Don't miss this experience! Oaxaca city is wonderful, but you must go to some of the local villages to see the artisans with Rodrigo. He is a great host and we felt immediately comfortable and friendly. Being with Rodrigo was a special experience as you can tell the artisan houses care for him and treat him like family. With such a small group, we were able to learn first hand and try to make our own candles and textiles. As the tour was set to end, I mentioned Mezcal, and Rodrigo took us to a market for lunch and a distillery without hesitation or asking for more money. I wish I had joined this trip earlier as I learned so much about the local culture, and Rodrigo also told us about so many places to try in Oaxaca.

I loved the tour to Teotitlán. The most amazing part of the experience was visiting the candle shop and met with the mastermind behind all the crafty candle making traditions. We then went to a rug shop that uses all natural ingredients to create 200 different colors of dye. It’s incredible to learn more about all these cultural traditions and techniques that passed down from centuries ago. Rodrigo is very friendly and knowledgeable, and I was about to learn more another Oacaca beyond just the tour. Highly recommend!

This tour is a must while visiting Oaxaca. Rodrigo is super friendly and made us feel so comfortable during the trip. The workshops he took us to we’re beyond words. We got to see masters in action and learn so much about their crafts. Rodrigo supplemented each location with stories and insights we would have never know. Thank you Rodrigo!!

This was an amazing day of learning to appreciate the effort, skill, and patience of creating the nearly lost crafts of intricate candles and of the natural dyeing process of the yarns for weaving. Rodrigo introduced us to the nicest woman who learned from her grandparents and has herself done workshops all over the world. She made us feel very welcome. At the second stop, the artisan had en emergency trip to the hospital so Rodrigo didn’t miss a beat as he was able to still explain the process very knowledgeably himself. He also took us to the local museum, the church, shopping, and a local market for lunch. We made a new friend. I highly recommend going with Rodrigo on any experience he offers!

We loved hanging out with Rodrigo for the day! He’s super kind and very knowledgeable. We loved visiting Teotitlan, and he arranged for us to meet with master craftsmen. We were in awe of the tradition, skill, and work that goes into candle-making and dyeing/weaving rugs. No way we could’ve had these experiences on our own. Loved that we had a such a personal experience and got to visit the homes/workshops of these amazing artisans. After the tour, Rodrigo even offered to take us out to another nearby town for a wonderful meal! We weren’t able to take him up on his offer because of prior plans, but the thought and consideration was well appreciated. Highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting Oaxaca!

YOU MUST DO THIS. I can’t believe this experience isn’t more popular. I only found it because Rodrigo was our host for our stay (his place is incredible). This was the perhaps one of the best things we’ve ever done in a vacation. We got to witness traditional artisan crafts being created right in front of us. He knows the families well, and it was amazing to spend so un amazing one on one time in their homes. As an artist, I’ve never been more inspired in my life by these incredible women. We got to meet Viviana (the handcrafted candle maker) and Juana (the textile weaver and maker). As for Rodrigo, the whole experience felt like we were with a friend who just went above and beyond to really show us an incredible time. You absolutely have to do it. Worth every penny. You’re welcome. Also, we all happened to have extra time that day, and Rodrigo, turned this short experience into a day long excursion for us out of nowhere. It was a very fortunate set of events and we are better for it. Got to try the best barbacoa I’ve had in my life (and I’ve had lots and lots haha).
