Join me for a unique experience in which you will learn not only how to cook Japanese food, but also discover Japanese seasonings. As a certified sake sommelier and fermented food master, I'll be happy to share all my knowledge of Japanese food culture with you. Japanese people love to use seasonings and fermented ingredients, which are tasty and have an impact on our health and well-being. At the beginning of class, I will give an important lecture about these special seasonings and how they can help contribute to a long, healthy life. It might just be an "eye-opening" experience for you. After the talk, you will then cook Japanese home-style dishes using these seasonings in addition to seasonal fresh ingredients. The simple prep work will have already been done ahead of time so that you can enjoy the highlight of cooking. The hands-on workshop will be coupled with a demonstration. You will prepare seven kinds of simple dishes—including a main dish from beef, chicken, or seafood, and vegetable side dishes—and you'll discover flavors you’ve never tasted in Japanese restaurants. At the end of class, we'll enjoy a full, sit-down meal with paired sake. You will also receive complete recipes by email.
