The tour was a truly special experience and worth every minute. Surrounded by the ancient trees and listening to Alfonso's story about the history, culture, and technology of his people who have inhabited this land for thousands of years, we felt privileged and humbled to have the opportunity. A must for any visitor or in fact any "local" (I've been living in GVRD for 20 years..) who wants to really understand the beautiful place we live in.

Candace’s smile was welcoming and made me feel at ease. She started our walk with a traditional welcome greeting and welcome song. She showed us the beautiful majestic trees and their healing benefits and how the trees care for each other. She shared ancestral stories and natural healing benefits of trees and plants. I enjoyed the tea ritual near the end of our walk.

We loved our tour! Our tour guide Alfonso typically leads the tours on the weekends. We found the tour start spot easily (has parking and bus routes right there). It was only my husband and I on the tour that day so we had a lovely private tour of the plants in Stanley Park. Alfonso is an amazing storyteller, extremely knowledgeable, and made us feel welcome. The walk was all on flat gravel or dirt paths. The actual distance did not seem far as we had frequent stops to learn about the plants. We both learned so much! Alfonso opened the tour with a traditional handdrum song and welcoming and ended it with some very tasty traditional tea sitting by the edge of Beaver Lake. We would love to do their other tour and would really recommend to anyone!

If you want to learn about some of the plants in Stanley Park from the perspective of some of the indigenous people's experience, this tour is a great introduction. The tour explains the people's many uses of the plants & respect for them. Alfonso, our tour guide, shared his story with us before he sang his welcoming song to us guests. I left this tour with a greater appreciation of the plant life in the park & around us. Excellent tour for school age children to retired folks. Thank you for sharing the tea; I loved it!
