O que você fará

Welcome to the historic village of Mimico, in Toronto's west end!

After meeting at Mimico Square, our first stop is Birds and Beans, an eco-friendly café and community fixture! Let me treat you to a juice, tea or coffee and homemade goodie, while I provide a brief history and the inside scoop on the area.

After our snack break, we'll head down to the lake and meander east along the waterfront, enjoying a diversity of birds and waterfowl - If we’re lucky, we’ll even see an eagle or an owl! I’ll also show you evidence of our local beaver hard at work, and maybe we’ll even get to meet her in person.

Get out your camera; you won’t want to miss these beautiful, waterfront nature shots and awesome view of the Toronto skyline in the distance.

We continue east through a peaceful, multilingual butterfly garden before ending up at the iconic white bridge at the mouth of the Humber.

After a little history (including Indigenous history) of this particular area, I’ll leave you here to continue on downtown, or I can provide directions to other parts of the city.

Other things to note
This is a family-friendly, LGBTQ+ positive experience. All are welcome! Please let me know if you have language learning needs, children, food allergies or anything else I can help with to make this great for you! I’m also happy to accommodate meeting location if needed!

I’m a certified teacher, licensed pilot and mother of monozygotic twins. I’m fluent in English and German, working on my Spanish and French. This tour is offered primarily in English, and runs year round!

As a settler Canadian, Truth and Reconciliation are increasingly important to me, and I‘ve been working hard to learn more indigenous history. I look forward to sharing a bit of our culture and history with you, in particular what we can find here in the city‘s west end by the waterfront.

I’ve lived in the Mimico area my whole life, and I’m looking forward to sharing this beautiful and historically interesting community with you! As a classroom teacher and workshop facilitator for over 20 years, you can count on me to make this an interactive and engaging experience for adults and children alike.

This is an area that many miss on their visit to Toronto. The main City area is fine for all it's big buildings and attractions but this area is entirely different and should not be overlooked when looking for "days out" around Greater Toronto.

I didn’t know Mimico before this tour but learned a bunch about the history and back ground of this corner of Toronto and the beautiful Humber Bay area. It’s a great photo spot on a nice day to see the city skyline from Humber bay. The group was small so it was easy to talk and learn from Vera and find out more about Toronto and Canada too.
