O que você fará

Reception at our studio rooftop.
Preparation of a Sangria or Vermouth.
A brief explanation of traditional coastal rice dishes.
We will start by preparing the broth. Once it's up and running we will start by cutting all the vegetables and preparing the cuttlefish.
Once the rice is finished we will eat it on our rooftop terrace enjoying the Barcelona sun.
For dessert, we will prepare the classic Crema Catalana.
Last but not least, most rice lunches are culminated with a digestive drink.

I'm the founder of El Port de la Cala, a restaurant located in the smallest port in the Costa Brava specialized in traditional fish recepies. Main dishes honouring true Mediterranean cusine are Suquets, Cim i Tomba and Arros Mariner.
Since we are not in Valencia, which is where Paella was probably invented, we will prepare the traditional Arros Mariner, which is a type of rice dish which uses rocky fish stock as it's core flavour.
Growing up in a very touristic village and also being the son of tourists that met on holiday and decided to stay, I was always attracted to local traditions. This constant search for authencticity brought me to the table of local families that where more than pleased to share their food with me. As it happens, I then shared such traditions with my friends and relatives.

This was one of my favorite experiences in Spain! Benjamin’s rooftop kitchen is a gorgeous place to hang out for an afternoon, and the food he made (with us helping out as much as we wanted) was delicious, and it was so much fun to spend the afternoon with someone who could tell us all about what it’s like to actually live in Barcelona. I will definitely be looking for similar experiences on my future travels.

Benjamin was really master about the Paella & Sangria. I had really good time to cook the Paella with him. Also, he told me all the history about Paella & Sangria. I highly recommend this class for you guys!

Lunch with Benjamin was terrific. I organized the class as a reunion with grad school friends. He was the perfect combination of professional, with his deep experience in the restaurant business and great stories, as well as relaxed host - it felt like dining with a friend rather than being served. Benjamin was a very nice host! It was raining at the time and he was gracious enough to still hold the event and made us feel welcome. There were only the two of us to come to the cooking class but he made us feel very comfortable throughout the session. Benjamin was very professional and warm in going through the steps to make the Spanish paella that we came for. It was delicious and he accommodated by omitting the onion since my co-worker Beverly cannot eat the onion, and I could not tolerate too crunchy rice! I recommend Benjamin to everyone!

Benjamin made us feel very welcome from the beginning. We sat down and enjoyed the location and introduced ourselves before Benjamin showed us how to make Sangria which was delicious. When we began the Paella he talked us through each step and encouraged us to participate in the preparation and told a great story about the tradition of Paella. The food was absolutely great and we never felt uncomfortable, the ambiance was relaxed and very fun.

Assolutamente da fare. Non solo per imparare ba fare una paella buonissima. Ma anche per conoscere il nostro host, ragazzo davvero eccezionale. È stato come passare qualche ora con un amico a cucinarci qualcosa, bere e parlare. Casa molto carina, terrazzo splendido. La paella davvero buona, rispetto a quelle dei ristoranti poi... Ottima! Iper consigliato!!
