O que você fará
I'll tell you the story of the early immigrant groups that arrived in New York and brought their delectable food to these shores and have become an integral part of our country's culture.
We'll loop around the NYC Lower East Side, visiting 100-year old bakeries, churches, markets, and historic sites. We’ll stroll the streets of Little Italy, just as Lucky Luciano might have a century ago, and marvel at former synagogues and Jewish clothing stores. We’ll visit cultural sites like the African Burial Ground, and we’ll navigate through the crowded streets of Chinatown.
Along the way, I'll introduce you to amazing immigrant stories and food. Dishes like pizza, knishes, dumplings, and more. We’ll taste why New York City is the center of the world and discover the culinary legacy left here by those that have passed by Lady Liberty on their way to the American Dream.
Other things to note
Summers can be hot and humid, autumn can be cool, and winters downright frigid with snow. Dress according to the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.

I am both an actor and a food blogger. On my blog and video series (eatthisny.com), I search for the best and most iconic foods in NYC (pizza, dumplings, bagels, etc.). During the research of the food, I discovered the stories behind these dishes and learned about the immigrants who brought them here. It's truly the story of our city (and country) and what makes New York City so great!
Onde você estará
We'll be visiting the neighborhoods of the earliest immigrants in NYC including the tip of Dutch New Amsterdam (present day Civic Center), the old Irish Five Points, through present day Chinatown, up into Little Italy, trendy Nolita, and finally the old Jewish and German Lower East Side which more recently has been home to a Latin American community.

This tour was great and full of wonderful opportunities to sample local foods. Our guide, Brian was terrific, friendly, courteous and helpful. We learned about the immigrants that lived in lower Manhattan, we visited China town, little Italy and some Jewish areas. Definitely recommend this for anyone who enjoys walking, good food, and learning fun facts about the local area.

We got to see NYC from angles that we couldn’t possibly have by ourselves, and got to taste some really delicious foods from cultures all over the world. We also learned a bunch about the city’s history. Alex was very knowledgeable and made this experience quite fun!

We didn’t have luck with the weather, and we were with strollers. So the overall experience wasn’t great. The guide was very nice and friendly and did her best to keep her “cool” in the rain.
The tastings were ok, but we felt like the price for the tour was very high considering what you get for it. We did food tours in the past and got much more.

This was an awesome experience and a must-do, especially if you have a very limited amount of time in the city (as we did). Brian brought us to so many cool places and was very knowledgable and enthusiastic about NY history. He even gave us recommendations for the next leg of our journey.

Our family of 3 enjoyed tasting all of the foods of Little Italy. Brian was friendly and warm, and provided great insight into the food and knew all the 'right' places to sample the fare. There was plenty to eat, and we ambled along at a 'do-able' speed. The conversation was pleasant. The vendors were welcoming. All in all - a great experience.
