- BART (7 blocks) to SF in 25 minutes

O espaço
Welcome! Enjoy all the comforts of home in this fabulously restored vintage caravan. Come say hi to the chickens, enjoy coffee and tea in the garden. You'll be close to pretty much everything and BART is 7 blocks away. We look forward to hosting you!

The house is on the same property where we live with our 2 small children. We are very family friendly.

Come glamp in our little slice of country life. This 1964 Kenskill camper has been fabulously restored and customized so you can play "pretend camp" while enjoying the comforts of home. This is a great spot especially if you've ever been tiny-home-curious.

In a previous life, this caravan was the food truck for Katie Cupcake, serving up the delicious treats in Flagstaff, AZ. You're sure to enjoy sweet dreams. ;)

We rearranged the interior so it feels much more spacious than the traditional layout. It's really quite nice inside. And yes, there's even a full bathroom with a proper flush toilet, sink, and small separate shower. The stall is short so taller folks need to get creative to shower. Towels and linens provided.

Mini kitchen has a working gas range, double sink, microwave and fridge. Coffee and tea provided, plus feel free to gather some eggs for breakfast. Watching "chicken TV" is a relaxing way to enjoy the garden. You may encounter our two kitties, Cowboy and Beebop.

Our place is one of those homes that's all front yard, and we positioned this trailer so you can sit at the dinette and enjoy a view of the garden and our silly flock of chickens.

Some people ask about safety. We've lived in the East Bay for 20 years, sampling the whole socioeconomic spectrum of neighborhoods. We've felt more at home here in this slice of town that we've felt anywhere else in the Bay Area. Put on your city smarts and you should be A-OK.

That being said, there are lots of great places to eat and drink nearby whether you want to walk, bike or drive. Three great new restaurants are nearby: Sideshow (excellent beer garden with delicious dinner options), Cassave Restaurant (delish El Salvadoran grub and a full bar) and Easy Creole (casual, tasty, and fast). Our favorite local spot is Sweet Adeline with delicious pastries and tasty coffee. There's another coffee and sandwich shop, Alchemy Cafe next to Easy Creole. It's straight out of Portlandia.

On Tuesdays, there's a farmer's market from 3-7pm just a couple blocks away! Venture a little further and hit up the big Temescal Farmer's market on Sunday mornings.

Your hosts are two UCB alums and former co-opers. Lewis is a programmer by day, musician by night. Ginger is a Jill of All Trades, ranging from glassblowing to finance. Jules (age 5) and Pasqual (age 3) are our little greeters. We'll leave you to your own devices, but don't hesitate to ask if you need anything.

Thanks for looking and happy travels!

***FAQ***
Q. Is there heat?
A. Yes, we provide a space heater that keeps it warm and cozy.

Q. Is there hot water?
A. Yes, there is a dedicated on-demand water heater for the caravan.

Q. If we don't want to share the bed, is there room to put a mat on the ground?
A. Kind of, but I wouldn't recommend it. You could fit a mat on the walkway to the bathroom, but then you'd have to step on each other to get around!

Q. Do you have luggage storage?
A. Sure, we can fit a few pieces of luggage in our supply room.

Q. Where do I park?
A. Parking is onstreet . If you don't get a spot just outside, you can usually find one on the block. Watch for street sweeping signs (a few hours out of the month).

Q. Can I bring an animal?
A. No. We need to keep the space allergen-free.

Q. What about assistance animals?
A. Due to past trauma, dogs of any size are not allowed to enter the property as they pose a health and safety risk with our particular circumstances.

Acesso do hóspede
Everything inside the trailer. All outdoor space except the dirt courtyard in back.

Outras observações
There is street parking available, please read street signs for street sweeping on certain days and times. There is another Airbnb listing on the property so you may encounter other travelers.

For some reason Airbnb doesn't know how to place us on the map. We're on the same block as Lois the Pie Queen -- a neighborhood fixture and solid greasy spoon diner. Although our neighborhood is not the prettiest, we have a great community and are happy to be raising a family here.

Can I just say we love Oakland? Many of our guests come here as a base camp for exploring San Francisco, but Oakland is HOT. It's in the middle of a rapid transformation and the air is just crackling with energy. In all our travels, we've discovered that it's easy to visit a place, but it's hard to visit a time. If you want to experience a city that's alive, where Something Is Happening, where the glory days are here and now -- then Oakland is where you want to be. -- We (Lewis and Ginger) are two UC Berkeley alums and former co-opers. As of this January, we are also new parents! Lewis plays with computers and music, Ginger plays with glass and design. Our son, Jules, is learning to blow spit bubbles. We love coffee, brew beer, throw BBQs and religiously attend the East Bay Bike Party. A few years back, we bought a fixer-upper and have been terraforming it here and there as the budget allows. As more and more friends and family started staying the night, we realized we love playing host. So we've decided to open up the place, give Airbnb a try, and play innkeep to folks passing through. Together we've traveled to Norway, Peru, Nicaragua, Jalisco Mexico, New York, New Orleans, Boise ID, Madison WI, Denver CO, Salt Lake City, Tucson AZ, Chicago IL, all up and down the US Pacific Coast, Argentina, Philippines, and Bali. P.S. My parents have a Philippines beach resort on Airbnb. Check it out: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/539038

Durante sua estadia
We'll leave you to your own devices. This is our home and we live onsite, so we're accessible but often busy wrangling the kids. You'll probably see us chasing them around or watering the garden.
