This is a private cottage bedroom located next to a B&B, and the guests may access all the B&B amenities while having their private space. The cottage has a comfy queen bed, desk, chairs and private bathroom with shower, coffee maker. It sleeps two people. A firepit in front and a picnic table allow you to cook out if you bring your own supplies. Wood fires may or may not be permitted depending on the fire season but charcoal is generally OK.

O espaço
The region is full of organic farms, hiking trails, wildlife viewing, kayaking and swimming in the river 1 1/2 miles down the road; and Camilla has a wealth of knowledge about all of it. Dark skies allow for star gazing and meteor-shower viewing. Fruit and nut trees are on the property. Landscaping is done with good farming methods in mind: compost around trees, fish "ponds" with water used for fertilizing and irrigation. NOTE ON BREAKFASTS: A simple breakfast is provided at the airbnb pricing, full breakfast available either through direct booking on my website, or for an additional $15/person if booking through airbnb. Guests can reserve this breakfast in advance and pay in person at the inn. The tasty, full-flavored country breakfasts (for additional fee) uses local produce, much from her own organic fruit and nut trees, eggs from her own (or nearby) hens and ducks.

Acesso do hóspede
There are three lobbies, lots of reading material about the region plus excellent fiction and nonfiction books of all genres, a wrap-around porch and large yard. A hot tub is available for no extra charge but should be requested in advance, since it is not always turned on. Sometimes the hot tub is down for repair (not often, but possible). A river rock fireplace and/or a wood-burning stove is often used to make the house more cozy during cold seasons.

Outras observações
This is a country B&B; not a resort. Pesticides aren't used in the region, so you may encounter gnats during certain seasons; unavoidable. Chickens and ducks are free-range and barn cats patrol the yard. Cats aren't allowed in the rooms but you may encounter one of my tame cats in the lobby. (I try keeping cats outside but sometimes they sneak in)

Capay Valley is a little-known piece of paradise with a single 2-lane highway running its length. Historic small towns dot it, originally as railroad stops. The lower section of the valley is full of organic farms and orchards; the upper section is included in the Berryessa-Snow Mountain National Monument and is wooded and hilly. Beautiful Cache Creek (really a year-round river) runs beside the road in the upper valley and is delightful for swimming, kayaking, rafting in season. Hiking trails and swimming holes are numerous. Lovely in all seasons.

I am a nature-lover! That's why I moved to Rumsey, in the Capay Valley of California. All around me are trees, animals (wild and tame!), coastal mountains and the gorgeous Cache Creek river. I also love individual sports, such as kayaking, hiking, jogging, roller-blading and motorcycle riding. My cycle is a Honda 250; just right for riding on all the curvy country roads up here. I am a science teacher, specializing in general hands-on science K-5. For the past 20 years, I've taught in public and private schools through my own business, Barry Scientific. Afghan teaching: Wanting to share my teaching abilities while helping women and girls, I founded the nonprofit organization Classrooms Across Cultures. Since 2003, I've been traveling to Afghanistan, training teachers throughout the country in hands-on, critical-thinking science practices. I wrote the first hands-on science textbook for Afghan teachers last year. My husband and I have three grown children. They grew up with chickens in the backyard and lots of family camping outings. Now I am undertaking a cut flower farm using sustainable farming practices at Rumsey House. I'm taking a farming class at a place called the Center For Land-Based Learning, doing sustainable farming. I have a huge compost area, worms, flower beds (bloom seasonally) and am doing it without much help or machinery. It's wonderfully fun! My landscaping is natural. I hope you enjoy the place as much as I do.
