Miscellaneous Attractions

Saratoga Spa State Park, 19 Roosevelt Drive, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866
Park History
Belief that the waters of Saratoga held healing properties led to the construction of spas and health centers that would cater to the tourism and health industries. Local companies began to bottle and sell the water as well, giving Saratoga the nickname "The Queen of Spas". At the height of this bottling frenzy in the early 1900s, there were more than two hundred private wells tapping into Saratoga's mineral springs!
Amid fears of losing this precious natural resource, Saratoga Spa State Park was started as a conservation effort to preserve the mineral springs. New York State declared eight hundred acres as a state reservation and took ownership of the wells.
Summer Recreation
Picnic sites are open to the public with picnic tables, grills and rest rooms. (For larger groups, there are picnic areas that provide shelter and require advance reservations). There are also nine pavilions that are available to rent for special occasions.
Swimming is available for the entire family at the two pools in the park: There's the Peerless Pool complex, which includes a large main pool as well as separate wading and waterslide pools, or you could take a dip in Victoria Pool - the first heated pool in the US!
Tennis courts are available free for park visitors, and include both hardtop courts and clay courts.
Nature trails allow visitors to enjoy all four seasons on several miles of trails throughout the park, and offer a great opportunity for walking, hiking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing.
Park Attractions
Spa State Park is full of attractions for all ages, including historic buildings, museums, golf courses, mineral springs, restaurants, and more.

Saratoga Springs Race Track

You haven’t really experienced Saratoga Springs until you’ve been to the horse races, or at least to the race track. Family Mondays are held weekly, but there are ample opportunities to explore the track with or without the family in tow. Horses are exercised on the track daily, in the morning, and it’s free to park until 10 a.m. The grounds are spectacular as well.

Saratoga Casino
342 Jefferson Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866
A luxury gaming, dining, and entertainment venue.

Congress Park
1 E. Congress Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866
Located in the heart of Saratoga Springs, Congress Park is a must-see for several reasons. Visit the historic 1870s casino – no longer taking bets – just for the beauty of the building. Inside, is the Saratoga Springs History Museum. Also on the grounds is a World War II memorial (built on a former Victorian bandstand), a carousel, and two natural springs. Simply walking through the park is worth the trip.

Yaddo Gardens
312 Union Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866
Looking for something totally free and totally spectacular to do? Be among the 50,000 people who visit Yaddo every year, just to look and be in awe of the mansion grounds. The stunning landscaping of formal gardens, rock gardens, fountains and ornate statues are something to behold. Open dawn til dusk to the public at no charge. Group tours are also available. With lucky timing, you’ll catch a wedding or garden photography session in action.

Saratoga Performing Arts Center
108 Avenue of the Pines, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866
From ballet and orchestra to rock, country and jazz, SPAC has it all. Besides, who can resist outdoor seating in Upstate New York? If you have an opportunity to see a show at SPAC, take it. If you don’t, make an opportunity. It’s that cool. Snugged into the side of the state park, this open-air venue has room for 20,000-plus patrons between lawn seats and the sunken theater (under cover).

Broadway - Shopping/Dining
The bustling village center, or downtown, can easily take up the better part of one’s day, but the boutiques and shops can’t be passed by. Meander through The Lyrical Ballad Bookstore with its new, used and rare books, and visit Tushita Heaven, where many of the items are centered around minerals and crystals. One of the best Irish imports shops anywhere is Celtic Treasures, and rounding out a selection of locally made offerings is Lather Bar Soap Company, a studio and shop on downtown’s Broadway.

National Museum of Dance and Hall of Fame
99 S. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866
The fact that there exists an establishment dedicated to dance is a delight, and the museum here is worth a look. Exhibits include “Dancers in Film,” “The Dancing Athlete,” and “Art in the Foyer.” The museum also hosts regular dance classes, and auditions for acts like the NYC ballet. Go on Tuesday, when there’s free admission.

Olde Saratoga Farms
522 Route 32, North Schuylerville, NY 12871
