** Covid-19 update. During December whilst in tier 3 you can book for work or other permitted exemptions but please check the gov site before booking. Cute toy it says ‘reasonably necessary for work or education and training ‘
I’ve attached a copy at the end of this section from the Nov 5th. just say which one it is when booking. Rules relaxed between 23rd and 27th, so stays are fine.

If you want to bring own bedding and towels please let me know. Otherwise all provided. King size settee bed. Very comfy.

I’ve put labelled hand wash with antiviral essential oils by the sink. (Too strong for face). On cleaning and changeovers, I am using disinfectant and soap on all surfaces and handles. Own separate porch and entrance which is ideal. Lock box for key.
Lovely peaceful walks straight from the door. Matlock Bath is a 15 minute walk and has shops and cafes open. Cromford has food shops.
**

All dog friendly. Nice drives to Chatsworth . Belper, Haddon Hall. Ashbourne. Bakewell. Walk to the amazing Matlock Bath or stay walking in the beautiful UNESCO stone village.

This space alone is for 1- 2 or 3 only. Small set up single bed is ideal for a child. It is snug in there with 3.

@@ Price reduction for 7 day bookings.

Leave your car. Lots of pubs. Restaurants. Cafes. Shops. Galleries. Antique shops. Walks. Right close to the snug. Pleasant walk also into Matlock Bath. Cafes are open to buy and sit outside.

Lots of walks, dogs welcome most places. You can enjoy a day out visiting Derbyshire's jewel, Chatsworth House or Haddon Hall (Tudor Manor House)
The high peak trail is on your door step. Walk to Matlock bath (15mins) for the Heights of Abraham. Stay on Cromford for the Historic Mills and Canal experience, with a pumping station. A stunning little village.
You won’t be disappointed. (Maps and info and waking books all in the snug). Deborah.

December - bbc put a programme on about Cromford. It’s on iplayer. The pubs ponds and power programme.

A very arty, historic, unique little space. Own entrance and full private use of your lounge/bed settee, kitchen/diner and shower/wet room/bathroom. All on ground floor. Easy access. Central heating with 3 radiators regularly coming on in Autumn/winter. Cool in summer. Entrance to street is in the heart of the village.

Cottage (built 1740) is central village on the main road (it does get a bit omit of traffic in the day). Set in the heart of a beautiful quaint stone built UNESCO village, full of shops, pubs, restaurants. No hill to climb as I’m right in the centre. No need to use your car if you want to explore the surroundings. Welcome to store bikes around the back.

For yourself is the Lounge with bed settee, Alexa tv with Netflix (use guest account), Amazon prime and iPlayer, full working kitchen with sink, new induction hob and oven with bistro table and chairs and a marble wet room/ shower with toilet and sink. All stylish.

Bed settee, brand new from Ikea and is clean and comfy. Bedding is put away underneath. Quick to get out. It’s huge. I’m not one for ironing but it’s all laundered immediately after each stay. There is a padded blanket to put under the sheet should you want it softer.

I live in the other side of the cottage myself but there will be little noise as the cottage has thick stone walls and I sleep on the 3rd floor. I have 2 little dogs who may on occasion bark if someone comes to the door, but I keep that to a minimum, and have sound proofed the adjoining locked door.

You can pull up in the pavement outside to drop of luggage. Free parking is across the road also and throughout the village. The drive is for owners use only.

I’ve had really good feedback with the snug but please note it is on the main road (but double glazing is good and your right in the hub of it all), the roads tend to quiet down in the evening and it’s quieter than Matlock Bath. Autumn/ winter much quieter. Bakewell. Buxton. Ashbourne - all have busy roads. A few customers think the Peak District will be quiet in all areas but main villages do have traffic.

Jenny Aitken is a fantastic local artist if your wanting to learn to paint. She is based near to Belper. Please google her for details.

Winter—Update on log burner. There has been a few people not using it correctly which can be dangerous. I can show you how. I do not supply logs or coal as I put the heating on to keep the snug warm (3 radiators). If you want to use it for ambience reasons then please bring own sticks/paper which are clean. (The shop sells some across the road). It will not take very large logs. You won’t need much heat as the snug is warm. Please keep its door closed and do not overload. Keep the 2 valves mostly closed so that it does not burn too quickly. I can show anyone who needs help. @@@@ do not leave the snug with fire blazing. It must have died down with air vents closed. Wilkos in Matlock sell the slow burning logs which are nice for an effect.

Please say if bringing a dog. Plus type of dog. Please could you bring your own blanket for dog to sit on. I can supply a bed and blanket at an extra price if needed.

The Snug is totally self contained and central with shops, restaurants and pubs across the road. You don’t need a car. Good bus routes and a train station near by. I leave guests to relax and enjoy their holidays but I am on the phone if you are struggling with anything.

If you want to eat please book. Boat is pub food. Greyhound bit posher. Parkeys french restaurant higher end but also gorgeous for lunch and breakfasts. Also a tapas bar.

Government advice for November:
12. Staying away from home overnight
You cannot leave home for holidays or stays overnight away from your main home unless permitted by law. This means that holidays in the UK and abroad are not allowed. This includes staying in a second home or caravan, if you own one, or staying with anyone you do not live with or are in a support bubble with.

You are allowed to stay overnight away from your home if you:

are unable to return to your main residence
need accommodation while moving house
need accommodation to attend a funeral or related commemorative event
require accommodation for work purposes or to provide voluntary services
are a child requiring accommodation for school or care
are homeless, seeking asylum or a vulnerable person seeking refuge
are an elite athlete or their support staff or parent, if the athlete is under 18 and it is necessary to be outside of the home for training or competition
If you were already on holiday, you should return to your home as soon as practical and comply with the ‘stay at home’ requirements in your holiday accommodation in the meantime.

Guest accommodation providers such as hotels, B&Bs and caravan parks may remain open for the specific reasons set out in law, including where guests are unable to return to their main residence, use that guest accommodation as their main residence, need accommodation while moving house, are self-isolating as required by law, or would otherwise be made homeless as a result of the accommodation closing. Accommodation providers are also encouraged to work cooperatively with Local Authorities to provide accommodation to vulnerable groups including the homeless during this period of national restrictions.

Acesso do hóspede
Own front door. In gated area at the front.

Outras observações
The door adjoining the main part of the house is locked off and sound proofed either side.
With the huge open stone walls in the snug, it is lovely and cool in the summer.
Heating on lots through winter.

The hotel is priced at around 2 times more a night than the snug at peak times . It is a popular and beautiful area.

Right on the edge of the Peak District National Park.

Matlock Bath 15 minute walk. ( Cromford is quieter and in my opinion has nicer pubs and restaurants).

20 minute drive to Chatsworth. Haddon hall.

The greyhound is lovely for gin and has pizza oven and good menu for meals. It’s also a hotel with charges £175 a night.
There is a french restaurant which is fantastic for breakfast lunch or dinner. A Tapas Restaurant. Traditional restaurant and the lovely Scarthin book vegetarian cafe.
Also a little white hut at the bottom of the road doing great value breakfasts.

I am an Art teacher at a senior school. I love anything creative, including cooking and have built a pizza oven in my garden. I love historical buildings and areas. I have travelled extensively since a small child. I love exploring the world seeing different cultures, sampling the food and taking photos. I would always rather a traditional experience rather than one catering for tourists. I am an early to bed person who would rather spend a day sightseeing and go for a nice meal than sampling the night life. I adore animals and have 2 dogs at home. Therefore, I love to see animals on holiday and often feed stray cats and dogs. I am a considerate person and I positive and polite. My late father said that you view your life through your holidays, and I believe he was right, therefore I love being away.

Durante sua estadia
I will pop and say hello if I have left the key for you. Please post the key through your front door on leaving.

I can fire up the pizza oven and cook on fire for an additional charge in the summer.

I can offer a pet sitting service in the evenings and weekends for an additional charge if you want to explore places like chatsworth house. ( additional charge)

I do not use the bedroom above the snug when it’s let, I sleep on the top floor. The most you will hear is creaking floorboards when I go into the bathroom and maybe when I come in downstairs. I have two little dogs which I keep quiet but you may hear the odd bark, however I have sound proofed the connecting door downstairs, so it will be minimal.
