This cozy forest retreat is a hand-built cabin full of charming details on 15 acres of land. Tons of windows look out on woods in every direction. Listen to owls and ravens from loft bed. Hiking and snowshoeing right out the back door in Green Mountain Audubon Center. Fire pit, picnic table, and outdoor wood stove. Cross-country skiing, swimming holes, mountain biking, and lovely villages all within 10 minutes drive. Close to Camel's Hump mountain, Long Trail and many downhill ski areas.

O espaço
Our family built this cabin to spend summers and holidays in Vermont, and now we want to share it with you. Outside you'll find an attached deck and freestanding deck with picnic table. Inside on the ground floor there is a small kitchen, bathroom with shower, and dining nook. Upstairs there is a living room with a couch, chairs, bookshelf and dresser, and above that is a loft with queen-sized bed. There is no TV or internet and cell phone reception is spotty - this is a place to relax and unplug in peace and quiet.

Please note: in the winter months (through mid-April) it is necessary to have snow tires, 4x4, or all-wheel drive to reach the cabin.

Acesso do hóspede
Guests have private parking at cabin and access to yard and hiking trails. In the winter months (through mid-April) the driveway is plowed, still it is generally necessary to have four-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and/or snow tires to access our cabin.

Outras observações
Please note that there are two ladders inside the house, instead of stairs.

Huntington, Vermont, Estados Unidos

This is a perfect location! Right out the back door you have access to miles of hiking trails, both in our private woods and in the adjacent Audubon Center. Lookout rock, with beautiful views of Camel's Hump and Mount Mansfield, is a fifteen minute hike from the cabin. We like to do it in moonlight! There are four crystal clear swimming holes on the Huntington River within short walking or 2-10 minute driving distance. Sleepy Hollow cross-country ski, snowshoe and mountain biking center is 10 minutes away. Richmond village is ten minutes away, with shopping, wonderful restaurants and a brewery and Huntington village store and farmstands are 5 minutes away.

I am a history PhD student at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersy, where I am writing a dissertation on medicine and imperialism in colonial Mexico. My partner and I have a 4 year-old daughter, who is a well seasoned traveler herself and a budding bookworm. Apart and together as a family we travel extensively (and perhaps excessively), not as tourists, but as a globally connected family with lasting relationships with a constellation of points around the world. It used to be that I traveled hitchhiking along the highway and sleeping in farm fields and on forgotten beaches; now though, I have aged into the comforts of a pillow at night and hot cup of coffee in the morning. Otherwise, I travel light. We regularly host AirBnb guests at our apartment when we are away, and so when we travel, we are always very respectful of other people's homes.
