O espaço
The space is inspiring - a great fusion of imagination, modernity, and a woodsy rustic feel that organically compliments the area (surrounded by US National Forest).
You will enter from the back using a private drive. The hot tub is on the lower back deck before you ascend to the main living area above the workout area. The master bedroom is private with direct access to the bathroom and the living space is open, with high, vaulted wood ceilings and dynamic lighting for any mood.
The kitchen is full service, though a roughly two butt kitchen opening to the common space and dining area. There is a unique loft service by spiral stairs that has bunks, fans, closet, reading sconces and a striking surround of high windows and a crown vaulted ceiling. Please be advised that the loft is considered the second bedroom as airbnb does not allow us to label it a "loft" bedroom so it is an open space and not private. The double bed in the "cubby nook" has very low ceiling and is more of a fun hide out with TV more so than a sleeping space, but can be a fun place for a child to sleep.
The main level deck wraps around the entire home, offering seating in front, views over the pool and river, and a large back deck with dining for six and deep seating to retire too when weather permits.
Guests have access to a shared washer and dryer on the ground level, as well as a common workout room, poolside showers and toilets and free access to the heating and stunning pool and poolside living area complete with a large gas fireplace and woodburn surround firepit. These amenities are shared by two other homes. This is not only a stunning gem of a home, but a true forested resort just a tiny hop from downtown Chattanooga.
One important thing to note - while this home is tucked into the woods and literally surrounded by national forest and the TN river, the freeway runs close by and there is a CSX and Norfolk Southern rail line that pass near the property. Consequently, this would best be described as a wooded, urban retreat. For very light sleepers, the trains can be a hindrance, but most of our guests hardly notice the trains unless they are dining outside or swimming poolside as one passes.

Outras observações
The Pool is closed in November each year and opened mid-march. We begin heating the water at the beginning of April as nights in March tend to be too cool for the electric heat system to work effectively. The space is usable as is the firepit year round however.

You are provided a charcoal grill for private use on the back deck. Use of the gas grill under the pergola should be cleared beforehand and we cannot guarantee that the gas tank is full at all times and use may require purchase of a tank refill or "recharged" tank, and because this is not included complimentary in the use of the space, guests may be responsible for the cost of a fill or recharge, typically 15-18 dollars.

Localização

Chattanooga, Tennessee, Estados Unidos

This home sits just above the TN river above I-24, just one mile from South Broad at the foot of Lookout Mountain. It shares five acres for three homes, our primary residence, our blue guest house, and this incredible gem between the two sitting just beside the pool.

Major earth work off the lower private drive has damaged portions of that road so please excuse our progress. We are building an event barn and meditation pond in the lower woods over the next 18 months to two years, so, its possible, the top stretch of the rode may not be resurfaced until completion. This simply means that portions between paved portions are liable to damage - shifting and pot holes developing with some heavy equipment traffic in place until the major earth work as been completed. If the CHalet private drive is too compromised for an average sadan in this period of expansion, you are welcome to use our front drive and park in community parking around the basketball court or pool side - all well paved or concreted.

Before going into just how close this Chalet is to whatever your Chattanooga led heart desires, let us note that Chattanooga has, again, for the second time in only 5 years won Outdoor Magazine's Best Town for (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) And there is no other listing so near trails, history, and city than this one. The house is exactly one mile from Ruby Falls, 2 miles from Craven's House and some great trail heads there, 5 miles from Rock City on the GA side of Lookout and literally a walk to Skyuka Springs trailhead which will connect you to Sunset Rock, Point Park, The Chattanooga Nature Center, even horse trails and bike trails such as the Guild bike Trail. The Chattanooga nature center is less than 2 miles from this home located at where Lookout Creek spills into the TN river at Moccasin Bend.

We are also just 4.5 miles from the Tennessee Aquarium (which is on the road we live on), and just over 3 miles to the Chattanooga Choo Choo and just over one mile to Ruby Falls and just over three to Rock City. Racoon Mountain with the amazing caverns is less than 4 miles from the house. There are several boat drops close by if you crave a cruise of the gorgeous TN River gorge. Or, if climbing or caving is your bag, we have walls and caves galore just right past your door with the famous Sunset face right by, and the TN wall just miles away by Signal Mountain. Finally, hikes. Hikes, hikes and more hikes to waterfalls, overlooks, historical markers - you name it, it's all right here. We are happy to point you to trail heads, swimming holes, waterfalls, climbing routes, you name it, it literally surrounds this house!

Finally, if history is what attracts you, we sit just by where the confederates camped before they retreated to "Point Park" up lookout and our property was in both their and the union's path in the Battle above the clouds. This was also important Cherokee land before the time of muskets and cannon. Our property literally borders Federal Park (Civil War) land on two sides and four sides if you count all our families land right here.

We have loved world travels our entire life though as parents of 8 kids, we move more between TN and Utah, our two family homes, than anywhere else. Frank is an entrepreneur and business owner, lover of history, plants, nature, his faith, philosophy, and our family. Nicole, who stays home to manage our large family and the properties enjoys being in nature, bird watching, trail running with our dogs, date nights with Frank, cuddling with our little ones and cats, conversations with the older kids, studying Gods word, and coffee talks with friends. She loves her Heavenly Father, her family, coffee, and wishing she did not love so much sugar! We love Chattanooga and Southern Utah for too many reasons to list, but also cherish variety and the beauty so many places in the world have to offer. As hosts, Nicole is home a lot during the day when not out in the community serving and we live on the property, So you will find us responsive, accommodating, and eager to share the treasures of our town and learn the treasures of your own. We know the trails, many waterfalls, parks, restaurants, and attractions of Chattanooga quite well and are willing to be a resource for our guests, offering an intimate knowledge of our home areas of East TN and Southern Utah. As a traveler, on business I tend to work, read and rest if I can, and prefer to travel with associates or family when I can. As a vacationer, I am eager to share and celebrate the diversity of creation and humanity with my family and to give them an explorers heart, a warmth for difference, and a bit of zeal for travel too. I prefer National Parks to cities, but cities carry their own attraction. I prefer mountains to beaches, forests to fields, and local to corporate or suburban.

We live next door, so you are likely to run into us. We are perfectly accessible and responsive though not intrusive at all. You may very well spend time poolside with our family or guests in the other house on the grounds, and we do enjoy getting to know our guests in this comfortable and fun context. The pool is shared by all three homes on the five acres.
