“On the Beech” A Unique, Authentically Hand-Crafted Tiny Treehouse above a world class waterfall

O espaço
EXPERIENCE FINE GLAMPING
This amazing tiny “treehouse” sits solidly on the ground on the edge of a cliff, yet perched amidst the lofty branches of a giant Beech tree that is rooted below the cliff. Hence it’s name, “On the Beech”. Featuring truly unique, authentic and creative craftsmanship, you won’t find anything like it in this world.
I hand crafted the Trusses for the barrel shaped roof of the covered porch to mirror the curve of the half dome roof over the bathroom. Trivia quiz upon arrival: what is the dome repurposed from and what other creatively repurposed items can you spot in the construction of this creative space?

SLEEPING ACCOMMODATIONS:
1. Climb the stairs to a spacious loft with queen sized bed/couch. Escaping to the woods to write a novel? You will find a built-in desk in this heated and air conditioned space. Close the trap door for complete, cozy privacy.
2. The space under the stairs in the heated kitchen accommodates a double floor mattress that can be moved from the futon couch on the covered deck. OR
3. On balmy summer nights, enjoy sleeping for two on the double futon couch on the covered deck.
4. Maybe a bit extreme, but the open portion of the deck can handle two more in hammocks.
It’s a crowded stretch, but for truly social animals, that’s 2 in the loft, 2 under the stairs, 2 on the covered deck and 2 in hammocks. 8 in a tiny treehouse? Wow!

The indoor BATHROOM features a spacious hot shower and sink. An odorless composting privy sits just outside the main bathroom. Toilet facilities are shared with tiny gypsy house, Hamlin, located nearby.

FOOD PREP: The kitchen is furnished with a 2-burner hot plate, microwave oven, toaster oven, coffee maker, and sink.
A charcoal grill is on the open deck in the trees.
There is a fire pit just outside. S’mores, roast hot dogs or brew up a tasty stew in a cast iron pot hung from the provided tripod.

DINING AREA: With classic “Tiny House” space efficiency, the dining table, located in the kitchen, is on locking wheels. It’s a prep counter that converts to a dining table that can be enjoyed either indoors or rolled outside to the covered porch or treetop deck next to the grill. Have it your way.

Oh, did we mention that THE BEECH Treehouse sits just 30 feet from the top of a Tennessee State Park class, 50-foot tall PRIVATE WATERFALL? Depending on rainfall, Miller Falls will thunder or gently lull you to sleep. A short walk across the foot bridge is a bench at the top of the falls for quiet contemplation in nature’s magnificence. Follow the trail to the bottom of the falls and to the natural stone bench located in the grotto behind the falls. Cool summer bliss. Take a bracing summer shower with your significant other in the falls.
For the fit and adventurous, follow the trail-less creek bed down the ravine over boulders the size of school busses to the next waterfall. We named it Swallow-Tail Falls for obvious reasons.
Hungry for more adventure? Keep descending the creek bed to the confluence of Miller’s Creek and Sewanee Creek. The bottom of the canyon (AKA “gulf” to locals) is naturally spectacular. You can follow Sewanee Creek for many miles, exploring caves, underground fountains and springs that gush from sheer mountain sides.

The Falls at Sewanee Creek offers even more. From the top of the bluff are hidden lookouts I can show you. Book other nearby cabins (Log, CONEX, or “Hamlin, the Tiny Gypsy Wagon) for larger groups. Or, stay in our semi-primitive campground featuring small sleeping yurts we call “Yurtles” and a well-furnished outdoor kitchen at an extra charge.

Outras observações
Special Caution: The treehouse is located at the top of a steep cliff. It is not small child friendly. If you bring your small children it is at your and their peril.

I’m the founder/developer of the Village on Sewanee Creek. So the greater Village facilities, including a huge amphitheater with facilities for outdoor movies, a stage for concerts and a Commons stuffed with BBQ’S, foosball and ping pong, volleyball and more are available on request.
Miles of trails through primeval forests lead to Sewanee Creek, blue holes and caves. Grundy Lakes State Park is just 2 miles away, offering swimming, boating and stocked for fishing.
Tracy City is just 6 minutes away with a convenient grocery store, 6 great restaurants, 2 gas stations, 2 dollar stores and an auto parts store. All this with a tiny rural population of about 1,600. Search google for more area info on my website titled @the Falls at Sewanee Creek” It has photos, directions and reviews of all the local restaurants and attractions.
Eight State Parks within a half-hour drive centered around Tennessees’ South Cumberland Plateau Park Visitor’s Center, staffed with rangers who will assist with guided hikes, maps and adventures. World famous Fiery Gizzard Trail Head (on America’s list of top 20 trails) is 10 minutes away.
Are you a cycler? The Mountain Goat Trail offers miles and miles of paved bicycling through forests and quaint towns from Tracy City and Monteagle to Sewanee.

I'm a semi-retired executive refugee from the world of big brand international retail franchising. Past Int'l Sr. exec. of Papa John's, Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins. I have traveled throughout the world, speak Japanese, was educated in Hawaii, love surfing, catamaran sailing, off-roading, building and welding stuff and being outdoors in the mountains, beach or wherever nature whispers peace or shouts adventure. I left the corporate world in 2006 to build and curate an "Intentional Community" / Eco-Village called the Village on Sewanee Creek. You can read about me and our (Email hidden by Airbnb) and TNw (Website hidden by Airbnb) I'm a jazz saxophonist. So the first thing I built in the Village was an amphitheater with a large stage and an enclosed backstage that houses a large BBQ, foosball and ping pong tables and a huge screen for outdoor movies under the stars. I also used to develop Blockbuster Video franchises around the world, so I guess that's where I inherited a love for home theater. Independence day is our biggest celebration of the year with entertainment, fireworks and a gut-busting potluck picnic at the Commons/Amphitheater facility. All are welcome to join us. If you are an accomplished musician or even just pretty good, you are welcome to perform on the Village stage. Singer/Songwriters will also enjoy the tranquility of covered decks on the treehouse, Log Cabin or Eco-container Cabin or at our 50 foot waterfall. We enjoy hanging out with interesting people who have their own stories to tell. Sometimes we invite guests to join us in the main house for dinner or a movie on our indoor home theater. The motto of the Village on Sewanee Creek is "In harmony with nature and people". We look forward to enjoying your company and hope you will love our little slice of heaven on the Cumberland Plateau as much as we do.
