- 50 minutes to Virginia Tech
- 45 minutes to Carvin's Cove (fishing, boat rentals, hiking, mountain biking)
- 45 minutes to canoe/kayak rental on the James or Roanoke Rivers!

Our 70+ acre farm has been managed to provide habitat for native species of all kinds. Zelda's Loft is designed to be a comfortable and peaceful escape. Come and experience a true retreat from the rest of the world.

We call it Zelda's Loft because it used to be our kids' hang-out space where they played "Zelda" video games and shared time with their friends, but it has been re-modeled as a modern escape for adults and kids alike.

The space is a spacious studio with a fantastic view from the deck, a well-equipped kitchenette, a cozy living area, a super comfy queen bed, and a bath with shower.

DECK: The entry staircase features a two-person deck with a fantastic view of the fields and surrounding mountains. Deer can be frequently seen in the morning and evening hours, and the sunsets and star filled sky can be absolutely spectacular. Coffee on the deck in the cool hours of the morning is a favorite activity of ours and I hope you will enjoy it as much as we do! There is an umbrella to provide shade for afternoon relaxation.

KITCHENETTE: Includes a small refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, deep dish electric skillet, coffee maker, basic kitchen tools/supplies, and a decent amount of counter space and food storage space. This is not a full kitchen but includes everything you need for a short-term stay. There is also a grill and grill tools provided. There is a table and chairs for eating and/or working. Coffee, oatmeal, snack bars, and popcorn are provided.

LIVING AREA: Offers a comfy couch with lots of pillows, TV with Roku, and a coffee table you can put your feet on. A "mini-mudroom" area is provided for unloading muddy hiking boots and hanging up jackets and backpacks. There is a small table and chairs for dining or computer work.

BEDROOM AREA: The bedroom area has a comfortable queen bed, extra-soft sheets, extra pillows, lamps and USB charging on both side-tables, a dresser and space for suitcases and hanging clothes, and a full length mirror.

BATHROOM: Cute bathroom has a shower, extra towels, hair dryer, and toiletries.

YARD: There is a small grassy yard with a fire pit, chairs, and a small gas barbecue grill.

TRAILS: The many trails around the farm are easily accessible from the loft - a map is provided.

Acesso do hóspede
In addition to the loft, guests also have access to maintained trails throughout the property (shared access with the hosts and possible other guests). Our 70+ acre property includes fields and wetlands as well as forested hills, and has been actively managed (through the Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program) for the last decade to re-introduce native species and create natural habitat for wildlife of all kinds. Feel free to explore, I only ask that you respect the privacy of the yards surrounding the other two homes on the farm. When exploring the trails please do not wander off the trail or cross any fences (to ensure we respect our neighbor's property as well). I hope you enjoy the beauty of the property as much as we do!

Outras observações
We are out in the country and that means wildlife is everywhere! You will likely see deer feeding in the fields during the morning and evening hours. We have chickens so don't be surprised if you hear them or see them foraging for bugs in the yard. We do have a gentle old dog who is sometimes outside and a younger pup who is never loose without one of us being with him. We also have a few farm cats who you'll probably see out hunting in the fields, but they are unlikely to approach you.

Localização

New Castle, Virgínia, Estados Unidos

Zelda's Loft is located in a rural area approximately 35 minutes outside of Roanoke/Salem and 50 minutes from Blacksburg and Virginia Tech, but the small town of New Castle is only a 5-minute drive away and has a grocery store, a dollar store, a modern olde-time general store, a couple of restaurants, gas stations, churches, and several historical landmarks. A guide to the local amenities is provided in the Loft.

The hiking opportunities in this area (both here on the farm and in the surrounding county) are fantastic - please ask for recommendations if you're interested! There are also great opportunities for bird watching, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, etc - just ask!
