****** Travel Recommendations ******
We have been living in Flagstaff for more than 5 years and we have great suggestions and recommendations for tourist attractions. Here is our favorite itinerary based on length of your stay.

Half-Day: visit downtown Flagstaff, experience historic Route 66, visit Walnut Canyon & Sunset Crater, experience incredible birds-eye view of Flagstaff from Lowell Observatory hill.

Day-1: Grand Canyon. Plan to leave Flagstaff by 4 am to enjoy incredible sunrise in Grand Canyon. Take jackets for cold mornings. Watch a movie on history of Grand Canyon at visitor center. Drive to all observation points. Take photos of deers and Elk. Buy souvenirs. Hike Bright Angel trail. Carry salt, and energy drinks and bars. Do not go past 1.5 mile rest stop if you are first time hiker and have no fitness. Hiking in Grand Canyon is deceiving as it is very easy to go down, but very difficult to come up. Beauty of Grand Canyon allures you to go all the way down. Also temperatures increase as you hike down. But stick to original plan. Go until Indian gardens or plateau point if you have medium fitness and past hiking experience. Hike South Kaibab trail until Phantom Ranch and come back by Bright Angel trail if you have very good fitness levels. Also try South Kaibab trail to Tonto West trail to Bright Angel trail if you have very good fitness levels. Tonto trail has no water or rest stops. Currently no water at 1.5 mile and 3 mile rest stops on Bright Angel trail; so fill lot of water at Indian Gardens. Talk to park rangers at Phanthom ranch or Indian gardens if you do not feel well going up. They will hike with you (even carry your bags) all the way up and help you complete the hiking mission (pretty cool, right!!). Visit Grand Canyon deer farm on your way back and feed deers. 1 hour 30 minutes drive.

Day-2: Sedona. Take jackets. Hike devil's bridge, cathedral rock, west fork trail and airport loop trail. Google and select these trails based on difficulty levels. Buy incredible souvenirs Sedona offers. Taste amazing ice creams and chocolates (we sometimes just drive there to eat ice cream and come back). 45 minutes drive on scenic and winding (zigzag) route 89A.

Day-3: Page. Visit Horseshoe Bend and lower Antelope canyon. The lower Antelope is temporarily closed due to COVID-19. Check Ken's tours website for latest updates. Rent a boat or Kayak at Antelope Point Marina (5 minutes drive from lower Antelope) and go to Antelope creek. It is like Antelope Canyon in waters. Visit Glen Canyon Dam. Stop at historic Cameroon Trading Post on your route. 2 hours and 15 minutes drive.

Day-4: Monument Valley (temporarily closed due to COVID-19). Stay there until sunset for incredible photos. Drive through valley. Be a cowboy; take a horse ride through valley. Do not forget to get a picture of you sitting on horse at John Ford point. Learn about Navajo code talkers in WW2 by stopping at Burger King in Kayenta. Watch Wind Talkers movie to learn more about Navajo code talkers. 3 hours drive.

Day-5: Petrified Forest National Park & meteor crater. Learn about Apollo missions at meteor crater. Do not take any rocks from Petrified forest as people beleive it to be very bad luck. Rather buy petrified rocks in the nearby towns. Stop at Twin Arrows Casino on your way back and test your luck. 2 hours drive.

Day-6: Flagstaf. Take jackets. Lava River cave (have a good jacket even in summer as temperatures drop inside cave, head lights, knee pads, first aid kit), Museum of Northern Arizona, Lowell Observatory, Wupakati National Monument, Bearizona and Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course. All in 30 minute driving distance.

Day-7: Phoenix. Montezuma Castle National Monument, desert botanical garden, musical instruments museum, Saguaro national park and Camelback mountain. 2 hours and 30 minutes drive.

We have brochures of all these attractions. Feel free to borrow hiking poles and other equipment if they are not being used by us. We do not take any commissions for referrals to these tourists attractions. They are our personal favorites. We have first aid kit in room. Take it with you when you go for hiking. We are open to talk and give more suggestions. We can help you save $ with coupons.

Localização

Flagstaff, Arizona, Estados Unidos

Flagstaff is a city in the U.S. state of Arizona, surrounded by mountains, desert and ponderosa pine forests. It’s a gateway to the San Francisco Peaks, home to Arizona’s tallest mountain (Humphreys Peak) and the Arizona Snowbowl ski resort. Nearby, Wupatki National Monument has Native American pueblo sites, and Walnut Canyon National Monument is dotted with their cliff dwellings.

Flagstaff attractions include some of the most iconic places in the American Southwest. Flagstaff is the gateway city to Grand Canyon National Park, but that's just the beginning of what is to experience here. There are seasonal waterfalls such as Grand Falls, Sycamore Canyon Falls and many others that appear in the spring and after monsoon rains. From lava tube caves, meteor craters, and dinosaur footprints to ancient Indian ruins, Flagstaff and the immediate surrounding areas are full of incredible things. There are a few very worthwhile attractions in Flagstaff itself, but as an outdoor mecca, you'll find that there's an infinite amount of incredible things to see just a short drive out of town depending on what your interests are.

Flagstaff is the highest point on the entirety of Route 66. It’s also the place where Pluto was discovered, and astronauts trained before first visiting the moon.

The home is located in the Presidio in Pines neighborhood. The community offers a family friendly environment, is safe, clean and close to NAU, grocery stores, shopping, restaurants and entertainment.
