Buenos Aires Province: cena gastronômica

“Travelers who collect dining experiences may want to visit Café Tortoni, Argentina’s oldest and most famous café. Started by a Frenchman in 1858 who modeled it after a Parisian café, the Tortoni remains a popular place to enjoy coffee or snacks with friends as well as hobnob with writers, painters and other artists. It’s also a good place to see the tango performed on stage by professional dancers. Located on Avenida de Mayo, the Cafe Tortoni entices the hungry with sandwiches, steaks and desserts that look too good to eat.”

“San Telmo is my favorite neighborhood in BA! The place I chose to live. It has identity and magic. A neighborhood that catches and surprises you. The San Telmo market is a visit that cannot be missed! It is full of cultural activities and milongas, ideal for tango lovers! And surrounded by gastronomic options to delight the palate!”

“Great parrilla! Don Julio was named one of the world’s 50 best restaurants. For starters you can try molleja (sweetbreads), or provoleta (BBQed cheese) or if you dare chinchulines (chitlins), they are part of Argentinian traditional parrilla along with morcilla(blood sausage), and Riñón (kidney).”

“Here's another highly rated classic Parilla located in San Telmo which is the oldest part of town. This area near famous Plaza Dorrego is great on Sunday's as you will find tons of people selling arts and crafts, street food, antiques, and outdoor free tango shows. You won't be disappointed with this restaurant and remember like most they close about 4:30 for lunch and reopen for dinner around 8PM. ”

““é gostoso!” Uma esquininha muito charmosa e com pratos muito gostosos. O bagel de salmão defumado é o melhor, junto com uma limonada fresca. A decoração é linda, parece uma casinha de bonecas. ”

“This is both a restaurant and outdoor café which is a great spot when you are ready to visit the famous Cementerio Recoleta. You can sit outside or inside, but recommend enjoying the ambiance outside. Great for small meals, a drink or two, tapas, and great sandwiches. This area is especially great on the weekends as you will find a great outdoor market with local arts and crafts for sale.”

“A slightly smaller, more intimate version of its 'brother' El Federal. A varied menu, relaxed atmosphere and traditional/vintage decor. Great to while away the hours on a relaxing morning.”

“Along with it's 'sister' La Poesia, this is one of two traditional restaurants, very typical of old Buenos Aires. Having the same owner, they both have the same varied menu, including burgers, pastas, salads, sandwiches and some very good sharing platters (‘picadas’) . Both have a great atmosphere and interesting antique/vintage décor, without being super ‘touristy.’ Try a craft beer accompanied by a traditional ‘picada.’ A great option any time of day.”
