“You are staying at the Centro Histórico (Historic Center) of Mexico City. It's a very big area but you can walk it from one point to the end in about 30 minutes. It was the main center of the Aztecs Culture, and then the main city of the Nueva España (New Spain), and finally is the capital of Mexico. You can find here, just walking: • Zocalo - The central square where everything happens. There is a very big waving Mexican flag. It's the place for celebrations, holidays, concerts and political meetings. • Templo Mayor - Archeological place with some of the remains of what the Aztecs build before the Spanish conquered them. With a nice museum. • Palacio Nacional - The base for the federal government where the current president gives his press conferences. Colonial style. • Catedral - The biggest church in Nueva España age. Amazing from outside as much as inside. Colonial style. • Bellas Artes (Fine Arts Palace) - Incredible theatre for concerts, opera, dance… It has a museum. Art deco, art nouveau style. • Museums - There are several museums of different sizes and themes, not all about Mexico but design arts, architecture, etc. • Restaurants - For all tastes and budget. Different kind of Mexican food, of course, but also from all around the world. • Shops - Mexican souvenirs but also books, photo cameras, clothes, jewelry, fine art, music… It's downtown! • Metro - You can visit the 4 or 5 subway stations located in this area, or use it to go far away. The walkability of this neighborhood is very high. You have beautiful buildings, streets, park, stores, restaurants, churches… everything for great sights and photos.”

“De los museos actuales, quizás el de mejor museografía. Duro por los temas que trata, tanto extranjeros como nacionales: Guerras, Persecuciones, Matanzas, Intolerancia Racial. Lo recomiendo bastante. One of the best modern museums, hard because of its content: Wars, Crime, Homophobia Human Rights. Great museography. Fun to watch the boys and girls doing choreographies in the mirror windows of the building next door. No idea why they do it! All the buildings that used to be in this area were destroyed by the earthquake of 1985...by the way.”

“The main Catholic temple of the country, originally built in XVI century and then rebuilt in XVII century, on the remains of an Aztec temple destroyed for the construction of it during the Colony. Historic and architectural interest as well as a cult center.”

“Great choice for lunch in the city center, serving traditional Mexican dishes. More than 100 years old, Diego Rivera got married for the first time here, and the city's famous rock band Cafetacuba named themselves after this place. ”

“Plaza Garibaldi surpasses every clichéd expectation one could have of mariachis in Mexico. The sprawling square in the historic downtown of Mexico City is lined with traditional cantinas and full of mariachi bands in the most marvellous outfits looking for business at all hours. Mexicans will still head to the plaza to secure a band for a family event or spend the evening drinking and singing among friends. Secure a table in the well-known Salon Tenampa on the north side of the plaza, order some mezcal and embrace Mexico at its finest.”
