“This place is one of my favorite Northern Thai restaurants. The chicken is perfectly roasted and crispy on the outside perfectly matched with fresh warm sticky rice. They have pictures on the menu so it is easy to see what your dish will look like which I like because most restaurants don't do that and it can be daunting for someone who is trying northern cuisine for the first time. I really recommend everyone to try this place out it is where I bring all my friends that have just arrived to Thailand. It can be quite busy on the weekends so I recommend coming on the weekdays or expect a wait!”

“Khao Soi Samoe Chai 391 Moo 2 Charoenrat Road, Mueang Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai, 50000, Thailand Price~40 - 60 THB • Thai MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View Though several northern classics are on the menu, Khao Soi rules the roost here. Tender noodles in a rich, tangy and creamy broth pairs well with the topping of extra-wide crispy noodles. The place is always packed, especially at lunch, but with many tables available, getting one shouldn’t be an issue”

“Particularly popular with the local expat crowd, Smoothie Blues is a fantastic place to cure your hangover and is pretty much ideal for every kind of morning. True to its name, the restaurant’s list of smoothies is extensive and they represent the perfect complement to their freshly baked waffles, muffins and sandwiches. Visitor can take their pick of a number of different types of bread, from French baguettes to wholemeal. The large and cosy outside area, facing the bustling Nimanhamin Soi, offers a relaxed atmosphere and on particularly hot days you can seek refuge in the air-conditioned building. Address: 32/8 Nimmanhamin Soi 6 CornerRd, Chiang Mai,Thailand”

“Han Thueng Chiang Mai 63/9 Soi Suthep 4, Suthep Road, Mueang Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai, Thailand 200 - 400 THB • Thai MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View Occupying a few houses with bamboo gable roofs near Chiang Mai University, this restaurant does not have a sign at the entrance. But locals have been flocking here for its delicious Northern Thai food at competitive prices for over a decade. The simple, rustic décor echoes the no-frills food with delicate flavours and textures. Service is simple, but friendly. Their Khan Tok set meal and Khao Soi are especially recommended.”
