State / Provincial Park
“This is a park on top of Mount Holyoke, with grassy lawns, picnic tables, and a beautiful white summit house that overlooks the valley and can be seen from downtown Northampton. It can get buggy up here but it is a must-see, surreal place to come on sunny summer days. ”

“This rail trail is a favorite of many. It is an 11-mile combination bicycle/pedestrian paved right-of-way on top of a former rail bed running from Northampton, through Hadley and Amherst, to Belchertown, on top of a former railbed. A connection with the Manhan Rail Trail enables users to continue on through Easthampton and Southampton. The trail winds through some incredible scenery, crosses the Connecticut River as well as Northampton’s Main Street on beautiful redone railroad bridges, and tunnels under Route 9 for safety. The trail intersects with the Northampton Bikeway and can be accessed at the end of State Street, near Stop & Shop (take a right when getting onto the bikeway and follow it across King Street to the Norwottuck trail).”
