“Visiting a museum with catholic and islamic features all together is something singular. You will not be able to see it anywhere else. Try one of the walking tours since you will enjoy better knowing what you see. Unless you are a museum fanatic a couple of hours are more than enough.”

“This is a fascinating sight. Better to have purchase a Museum Pass (85TL) which covers 12 other museums. If you have visited two or three you've already got more than your money's worth. Entrance to any Museum is 40TL. Also saves time queuing . If you buy just entry ticket (40TL), you'll need additional ticket (25TL) to enter the Harem which is "a must see". You will need to spend at least half a day (3-4hr) following the guide plan obtained at the entrance. Starting from the weaponry on the palace grounds. Photography is not allowed inside premises. Opens 9:30am. Closes at 6pm.”

“Inside the museum are objects which evoke stories and memories of the Istanbul of the 1970s. Some objects, such as Füsun’s dress or driver’s license or the view from her room, are taken directly from the novel. Objects are displayed in cases corresponding to chapters in the novel. On the ground floor of the museum is a large spiral, representing the Aristotelian conception of time as the line which links the series of unbreakable, atomic moments of the “present,”—the concept from which objects of the museum link the moments of the novel to the characters living out its arc.”

“Or Chora Church. Containing the best Byzantine mosaics in Istanbul. The building was originally known as the Church of the Holy Saviour Outside the Walls (Chora literally means 'country'), reflecting the fact that when it was first built it was located outside the original city walls constructed by Constantine the Great.”

“Just a hop, skip, and jump away from Topkapi Palace, this important museum complex brings together a staggering array of artifacts from Turkey and throughout the Middle East, which sweeps through the vast breadth of history of this region. There are three separate sections in the complex, each of which are worthy of a visit: the Museum of the Ancient Orient; the main Archaeology Museum; and the Tiled Pavilion of Mehmet the Conqueror, which holds a staggering collection of ceramic art. As well as all the wonderful artifacts on display, don't miss the interesting Istanbul Through the Ages exhibit room in the main Archaeology Museum.”
