“The Root Note offers a low-key place to get work done, read a book, or chat with friends. During the week they have a variety of events including jazz nights, open mics, music performances, and trivia. This is a great place to go for crepes, coffee, and work or drinks and fun!”

“La Crosse's original coffeehouse!!! Great coffee, excellent scones, and soups (mushroom bisque is my fav) made in house. This coffee house even makes their own Italian syrups. As an added bonus, it is attached to Pearl St. Books, a used book store. Books and coffee- always a great pairing! ”

“Located right across from UWL, this restaurant serves breakfast and lunch. We usually go there for breakfast (which is served all day) and really enjoy the B.Y.O.B- Build your own Breakfast...which really lets you tailor your breakfast to your exact tastes. Gluten options are available. We also love the omelettes and pancakes made with Pearl St. Brewery's Downtown Brown. With a full bar and vast menu, this is the place that will make both the burger lover and veggie lover happy. Search for them on Facebook to see their menu.”

“Uptowne Cafe is a locally owned restaurant that serves southern food along with a variety of different options. It is the only place you can get a delicious chicken and waffles combo. We highly recommend it! ”

“Located at the Shrine of the Lady of Guadalupe, this restaurant is in a beautiful setting. A combination of amazing architecture and natural beauty are the backdrop for your meal. They have a nice selection of breakfast and bakery items at very reasonable prices. Breakfast is 9-11 am The lunch menu offers some German options including Schnitzel and Bavarian pretzels, which is a reflection on their new German chef. Brunch is served on Sundays from 9 am - 3 pm for $11.95. You can view their menu and hours at www.guadalupeshrine.org/cafe After your meal, make sure to walk up to the top of the hill where the Shrine is located. ”
