“Magellan’s Cross holds a very big part of the history of Cebu. It is believed to be a Christian cross planted by the Portuguese and Spanish explorers headed by Ferdinand Magellan. It was planted upon their arrival in Cebu on March 15, 1521. That day also marked the birth of Christianity in the land.  The original cross was believed by the people of old to have miraculous healing powers so they started chipping it away. Because of that, the government officials was prompted to supposedly encased it in another wooden cross made from tindalo. It is now housed in a small chapel. Rumors say though that the original cross was destroyed or disappeared after the death of Magellan.  Today, the cross is housed in an octagonal pavilion called the “kiosk”.  It is one of the main attractions for tourists because it is a part of country’s history. ”

“The Lantaw Restaurant chain in Cebu has quickly gown to be one of the most popular restaurants in Cebu. It has branches in Cordova (Mactan Island), in Busay and the SRP. Lantaw offers affordable local cuisine with some of its more popular dishes being Crispy Pata, Spicy Scallops, Grilled Pork Belly and Cordova Express. While you eat enjoy some of the wonderful views of Cebu City. The restaurants offer some of the best views in town.  I had a beautiful sunset one of the times I ate at their floating restaurant in Cordova. While the Busay branch had some amazing views of Cebu City at night (see video). Of the two I found the Lantaw Floating Restaurant (on Mactan Island) a bit out of the way and hard to get to. Either you will need to organise a taxi to wait for you (for an extra fee) or catch one the tricycles to take you back to the main road to try and hail down a taxi. The place gets busy and if you don’t make a reservation it could be a bit of wait. I had to wait 40 minutes for a table on one visit. The restaurant in Busay isn’t nearly as bad to get to as it is closer to Cebu City. I actually liked this branch more and the food tended to be better here. There is also a branch at the SRP which I have not tried as yet. For me Lantaw Restaurant is a good place to eat at. If you want to try some local cuisine in Cebu at good prices this is certainly a great place to start. More for the casual laid back person wishing to eat with family or friends. If you wanted to eat somewhere romantic in Cebu  I wouldn’t really say this is the place to go, not if you want somewhere quiet anyhow. Overall a good restaurant to eat in Cebu without having to spend too much. ”

Farm
“Sirao Garden is actually a functional flower farm. The owners are ordinary local farmers who grew tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, sunflowers, and other blossoms that were harvested and sold to the lowlands. Then at one point in time, people who passed by the farm started taking photos of the flower fields and posted them on social media. The Internet exploded, piquing the interest of the public. The owners, realizing the tourism potential of the farm, decided to allow visitors to come in and enjoy their farm. ”

“There’s plenty of history to be seen in Cebu City, and Fort San Pedro is one such historic location. First built as a wooden fort around 1565, the current structure is a triangular bastion fort that has been around since 1738. Nowadays, Fort San Pedro no longer houses soldiers but a museum, an open-air theater, and the Cebu office of the Department of Tourism. If you’re looking to be transported back to colonial times, Fort San Pedro is the place to go. Type: Tourist attraction Location: A. Pigafetta Street, Cebu City, 6000 Cebu Directions: Fort San Pedro is a 40-minute drive from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. From the airport, take Lapu-Lapu Airport Rd to M.L. “The Mactan Shrine, located on Mactan Island, just of the coast from Cebu City, is a must-see for everyone interested in Filipino history. It commemorates the Battle of Mactan that took place in 1521 between the Spanish and the Visayan (central Philippines) native people in April 1521 and, along with paintings and plaques about that battle, it also contains two other important shrines -- the Lapu Lapu Shrine and the Magellan Shrine ”
