Best things to do in Montevidéu

Flea Market
“This is one of the most amazing parks in the city, it's truly incredible how the Uruguayan culture values their public spaces and make the most of them. Make sure to visit on a day you have good weather, and sit by the Rambla with the locals at sunset. Here you will find statues, fountains, wandering walkways, a pond with boats to rent, cafes and plenty of space to sit on the grass in the sun. ”

Built according to the design of the Italian architect Carlo Zucchi in the neoclassical style and officially opened on August 25, 1856. The side wings of the building were completed in 1874 under the direction of the French architect Victor Rabu. The theater is named after the Spanish discoverer Juan Diaz de Solis. “Ciudad Vieja (Old City) is the tourism center of the city and for good reason it's beautiful! It won't take you very long though one day is enough. Walk down Sarandi street starting at the Puerta de la Ciudadela (entrance to Ciudad Vieja). From there you will pass may courtyards, restaurants, cafes, gift shops, and art galleries. Casa de Shows
“During February and up until mid-March, Uruguay celebrates the longest Carnival on Earth. Every single day in more than 20 locations, local groups go up the stage to do their show. This is the theater where bands perform to get a price at the end of Carnaval. It starts at 7 PM. You need to go to an Abitab to buy a regular. This costs around 10-12 USD, depending on the location you want. This is the most authentic thing an Uruguayan can do during the summer. ”
