The highest village in Cornwall is Minions which is a mere 4 miles from Lestitha Farm on the south east corner of Bodmin Moor, and has a wealth of ancient archeological sites dating from the early bronze age onwards and they are really popular with walkers and hikers, these include the Hurlers, three stone circles dated at around 1500 BC, a line through the centre of them brings you to Rillaton Barrow a large burial mound. Alternatively on the top of Stowes Hill, overlooking Minions, you can see the Cheesering, a natural formation of balancing stones formed during the last ice age and by thousands of years of erosion, the name derives from the shape of the stones and will become patently obvious on viewing! The ancient stannary town of Liskeard is at the head of the Looe Valley and is approximately 12 miles east of Bodmin. Liskeard is one of the few remaining towns in Cornwall to still have a livestock market. It serves a number of small surrounding villages and is the gateway to Bodmin Moor. Liskeard is also the starting point of the Liskeard to Looe railway, one of the most scenic railway trips in the country and a delightful day out! Bodmin Moor, bisected by the newly expanded A 30 is home to one of Cornwall's Areas of Oustanding Natural Beauty. Reaching a height of 1,377 feet above sea level at Brown Willy, Cornwall's highest point. The heather covered granite moorland provides East Cornwall with the most stunning country views and rugged walks. Near Blisland you will find two of Cornwall's stone circles, the Trippet Stones and Stripple Stone Henge and just round the corner, one end of the famous Camel Trail. The 18 mile Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths, providing a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge out to Padstow, eminently suitable for families. The National Lobster Hatchery at Padstow neighbours Rick Steins empire on the North Coast. The Bodmin and Wenford Railway, the first steam operated railway in Cornwall, takes in 13 miles of countryside. Also just outside Bodmin is the Camel Valley Vineyard who have been winning awards for their home grown wine for the past 20 years. The National Trust have a number of properties nearby - Lanhydrock House, Trerice, Cotehele and Antony (used for Disney's Alice in Wonderland), Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps. Slightly further afield is the Eden Project in St Austell. Bodmin Jail built in 1778, notorious for its public executions by hanging, was the first jail to be built housing inmates in individual cells. The Jail closed in 1927 and is now a museum open to the public, which during the First World War housed the Crown Jewels and the Doomsday Book. To the east is the Tamar Valley, a stunning, quiet, picturesque region with some beautiful villages including Calstock with its impressive Viaduct dominating the village, Calstock Quay was originally used for transportation of tin as there is a deep water navigable channel at the top of the tides, although the construction of the Tamar Valley Railway in the early 20th century led to most cargo being transported by rail. Further up stream is Morwellham Quay with its fantastic open air museum, Morwellham Quay has been awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO, the cultural arm of the UN, and is part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape. Originally set up by the Benedictine Monks from Tavistock Abbey in 961 as a trading route to Plymouth via the Tamar. Tavistock is an ancient stannary and market town on the edge of Dartmoor and just across the border in Devon, it has a wealth of fine pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and tourist attractions.

Fowey (pronounced Foy) is one of the most iconic places in Cornwall. Set on the steep banks on the Fowey Estuuary, the narrow streets and alleys are just great to explore. Views of the harbour are dramatic just watching the activities in the harbour can keep you occupied for many hours! Life in Fowey revolves around the water. The local fishing fleet land the freshest catches and local specialities include mussels, oysters, clams, crab & lobster. There are some great restaurants and pubs around and nearby. Try one of Sam's restaurants or a little drive inland to the historic Crown Inn at Lanlivery is well worth the effort.Life on the water culminates in the middle of August with the Fowey Regatta Week where yacht racing takes place all week. Watch the historic Famouth Working Boats racing in the close confines of the estuary or enjoy the many festivities around the town. The highlight is without doubt the spectacular display by the Red Arrows who rate Fowey as one of their most dramatic displays because of the steep valley. There are countless attractions near to Fowey including the Eden Project, Lanhydrock House & Gardens and the beautiful Luxulyan Valley. The Eden project is 3 miles from Fowey and The Lost Gardens of Heligan 10 miles. Almost on the doorstep Par duck ponds & woodland walks link to the Clay trails long distance cycle paths. For garden lovers there are many open gardens to explore including Marsh villa Garden just 50yds away! You are in the heart of Du Maurier country with many places to find on the literary trail. Du Maurier Festival in May, Fowey Regatta August (ask for details). Consult the guide books & folders in the cottage & explore to your hearts content!

We are situated in the picturesque village of Pelynt with stunning scenic views which stretch back as far as Dartmoor. Our village has all the necessary essentials: local pub serving excellent food, a post office and two village stores. Ideally located just 4 miles from the popular fishing village of Polperro and 4 miles from the town of Looe.

Looe is a very popular fishing village in South East Cornwall, split by the River Looe into East & West Looe. East Looe is a little busier with the harbour, fish quays and main shopping centre. West Looe is joined by a very pretty seven arched bridge and is quieter but still has a few shops and restaurants. From Hannafore Beach in West Looe you can view the banjo pier as well as Looe Island, which is open to day visitors during the summer. The railway line servicing the fish quays still runs and is a great way to enter the village from Liskeard.Polperro is just south of Looe and is a much smaller fishing port with many of the streets impassable to vehicles. As with many of the smaller ports on the south coast, their heritage is in smuggling and a museum in the village depicts this. Pilchards were the main source of legitimate income for the village, as well as boat building and at high tide fishing boats still work from the harbour. Talland Bay, situated between Looe & Polperro, has been made popular by Richard & Judy Madeley on TV.

Talland Bay lies between Looe and Polperro and is one of the most memorable and secluded coves along the coastline of South Cornwall. The quiet hamlet of Talland consists of a scattering of houses and cottages and an ancient church, away from the busy tourist areas to the north and west. The Bay community, set on a secluded hillside with direct access to the shore, is a haven of tranquillity, so rarely found in such an accessible location. It is a perfect location for walking, fishing and exploring the coast - or just relaxing and enjoying the views.

Reaching a height of 1,377 feet above sea level at Brown Willy, Cornwalls highest point. The heather covered granite moorland provides East Cornwall with the most stunning country views and rugged walks. Near Blisland you will find two of Cornwalls stone circles, the Trippet Stones and Stripple Stone Henge and just round the corner, one end of the famous Camel Trail. The National Trust have three properties nearby Lanhydrock House, Trerice and Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps. Slightly further afield is the Eden Project in St Austell.North Cornwall is as famous for its rugged coastline as it is for its surfing. You can hire surf boards and equipment from Polzeath, up as far as Bude and Widemouth Bay. Boscastle is the only natural harbour for 20 miles and at low tides and certain weather conditions you can find a blowhole at the mouth of the harbour. Tintagel brings with it legends of King Arthur and the remains of Tintagel Castle can be visited on foot. Nearby Camelford is rumoured to be the Camelot of legends past, and the finding of 'Arthurs Stone' in 1998 has only fuelled these myths. On Bodmin Moor, Dozmary pond is thought to contain Arthur's Excalibur, and Merlin is thought to be still found walking under Tintagel Island. Port Isaac is the location of the televisions series Poldark and more recently Doc Martin, as well as being a gorgeous working fishing village.Bodmin Jail built in 1778, notorious for its public executions by hanging, was the first jail to be built housing inmates in individual cells. The Jail closed in 1927 and is now a museum open to the public, which during the First World War housed the Crown Jewels and the Doomsday Book. The famous Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths for 18 miles, providing the whole family with a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge, and out to Padstow where you can sample Rick Steins famous Fish and Chips. The market town of Launceston is the capital of Cornwall and well worth a visit to see the church of St Mary Magdelene, with granite carvings, unusual among Cornish churches.

Out of high season, we are often happy to be flexible so please do get in touch if Mon - Fri or Fri - Mon doesn't suit your plans. The Barn is designed by award winning sustainable local architects, Arco 2. Heated throughout by an under-floor eco air-source system, fully insulated and double-glazed, you will always be warm and comfortable. Electricity is 100% renewable. The kitchen is equipped with A rated dishwasher, washer drier, induction cooker, fridge freezer, toaster, electric kettle and all you might need in a home from home (if there is something you need that's not there we will endeavour to provide it). We supply a small honesty larder of basics, such as tea, coffee, oil and vinegar, salt, pepper & herbs; please replace what you use and/or add to the store. The living room has a French "Godin" woodburner with a generous supply of free logs, providing extra warmth in the winter months and a large comfortable sofa with wonderful views over the valley. Upstairs, there is modern shower room and the bedroom has a comfortable king size double bed and all the space you need to store your belongings. It is decorated in a restful blue and is further enhanced with soft lighting. There are french windows leading to a secluded south facing patio where you can sit out and lose yourself in the peaceful surroundings. Please get in touch for any further information. We are sometimes able to be flexible about arrival and leaving times depending on our bookings. We have a travel cot for babies (babes in arms) if needed at no extra charge. Unfortunately we are not able to accomodate children due to the wild nature of the property (built on the edge of a substantial drop and near a river, etc.) We cannot accommodate dogs or any pets as, however pleasant and obedient, they do have an effect on the local wildlife, which we are trying to encourage. Please bring your own beach towels.
This is cornish countryside at its best. Walk in the woods or stroll by the river. Or just sit outside and enjoy the view. Buzzards fly over head, marsh tits feed on our feeder and the butterflies and wild flowers are prolific. There is no light pollution so on cloudless nights the stars are fantastic. Watch out for shooting stars!

A localização é impressionante e isolada. A vista do celeiro é tão bonita. Nós voltaremos!

    Maddy2019-08-19T00:00:00Z

Polean Farm Cottages are located in Cornwall, down green lanes, off the Looe to Polperro road, just outside the village of Pelynt. The farm is set amongst rolling farmland and is less than 2 miles from the sea. All of the cottages are full of character and provide a cosy home-from-home. They have all been converted from original farm buildings which date back to the 18th century. The Old Farmhouse (ref UK12895) is a historical, semi-detached farmhouse which has been tastefully renovated and is perfect for a large family get together or for two families to holiday together. Little Owls Cottage (ref UK12896) is a detached barn named after the owls that still live in the nesting boxes around the building which can sometimes be heard at night. It is set in its own garden with glorious views across the farm and towards the village of Pelynt. Rosebud Cottage (ref UK12897) and Shires Rest (ref UK12899) are pleasant, beamed cottages with lovely countryside views. Before being converted, both cottages were used to store hay in the winter and you can still see many of the original features. Threpney Cottage (ref UK12898) is an imaginatively converted ’roundhouse’ and is full of character. The cottage was named after the old twelve sided three penny piece due to its shape. Twinkles Cottage (ref UK12900) is a charming and spacious ‘upside down’, beamed cottage, with great views across the farm and surrounding countryside. Waggoners Cottage (ref UK12901) is a delightful single-storey cottage, with its own garden and views of the front fields and the children’s play area at the rear. The cottage was named after the wagons that used to be stored in it and you can still see many of the original features of the barn. The Mealhouse (ref UK12902) was originally used to store the feed or ‘meal’ for the pigs that resided in the pig sty which can still be seen across from it. The Mealhouse is detached and set slightly apart from the other cottages, offering uninterrupted views across the farm. Polean Farm provides the perfect destination for a family holiday. The farm offers animal feeding where you can help bottle feed lambs (seasonal) and hand feed pigmy goats and chickens, as well as enjoy pony or tractor rides! The farm is also a working livery yard and children and parents often enjoy visiting the horses and ponies each day. Guests have free and unlimited use of an indoor heated swimming pool just a few minutes’ drive away. It’s perfect for families and children who want to splash around or those wanting to put in a few lengths and keep fit. Guests are also welcome to make use of the nightly entertainment at the same local holiday complex which is just a few minutes’ drive from the farm. The entertainment is on every night and includes children’s entertainment, followed by grown up entertainment with top musicians, performers and comedians regularly appearing throughout the season. Children are allowed in the venue for the whole evening. Beach 4¼ miles. Shop and restaurant 1½ miles. Pub 1 mile. These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 38 guests.

Penny’s was converted from an old cow byre. It is a cosy cottage for four people and sits along side a large lawn with far reaching countryside views. Located just 1 mile from the village of Pelynt which has two shops and a pub.
Small, but perfectly formed, Penny’s cottage may be our smallest two bedroom cottage but it is full of charm and character which come from it’s original Cornish stonework, exposed beams and original features. Converted from an old cow byre around 40 years ago, it is thought to have been named after a favourite horse, which once pulled the plough on the farm. The sitting/dining room has a cottage style suite, a 32 inch flat screen TV, with DVD player and video. There is a separate, well equipped kitchen, which has a built in oven with ceramic hob, microwave, fridge freezer, extractor fan, and plinth heater. The ground floor bathroom has a bath with a shower over, underfloor heating, a heated towel rail, shaver point and fan heater. The first floor, double bedroom has far reaching countryside views and often sheep can be seen grazing just over the fence. The twin room has views over the garden. All beds have quality pocket sprung mattresses and quality bed linen. Situated next to a very large lawn, it is a true favourite with families who wish to savour the freedom Cornish countryside can offer. There is an outside seating area, perfect for al fresco dining and star gazing on a dark Cornish night. The roof is fitted with solar panels, helping to provide green energy to the cottage. We are happy to accept up to two well behaved dogs, over 1 year of age, by arrangement. Please note this cottage is not suitable for large breeds of dog. There is a charge of £20 per dog per stay. There is parking for one car outside of the cottage.
Peaceful countryside location, just 10 minutes from Looe and Polperro.
