“8-minute drive. Lawrenceville. 19th century church converted into a microbrewery and restaurant, perhaps the first such venture in this area. Beer brewed on the former altar. Big place, varied menu, a fun place for a special occasion. Nice courtyard.”

Gastropub
“A must if you are looking for a meaty meal! Their food is some of the top in town. Their steaks are fantastic, albeit large. They also offer an amazing burger called the Pub Burger. (Tip - Order a side of Truffle Mayo for your fries!) I also love the braised beef Poutine. Book a reservation as this one is hard to get a table before 8:00.”

Cafeteria
“I recommend this place because it was one of the first coffee shops in the area and because of the great courtyard across the street where you can enjoy your beverage in the fresh air. The vibe here can be a bit stand offish to outsiders. I don't think it's intentional but I wouldn't come here to get a taste of the Pittsburgh friendliness. ”

Restaurante vegetariano / vegano
“This middle eastern influenced vegan cafes in the neighborhood of Lawrenceville is one of my favorite places in the city. It is outstanding for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their sourdough pancakes are some of the best I've ever had. Their hearty tofu scrambles will impress meat eaters alike and leave you wondering how they manage to do it.”

Bar
“This place is located right up on Shiloh Avenue, next to Grandview Ave (where the lookout is). The staff is great, the atmosphere is the best on Mount Washington, low-lit and cozy yet fun because they have an entire corner filled with board games, great music, and their cocktails are incredible. I highly recommend the Old-Fashioned, they use fresh muddled orange and those new fancy purple cherries, the big round ice cubes, I mean come on!”

Loja de donuts
“My favorite indulgence in Pittsburgh! These amazing little hand-crafted donuts are worth the price and calories. Note that each location is owned by different people and serve different flavors. If you’re going up North at all, the Wexford location is the best one by far. If not, there are shops in both the Strip District and Oakland.”
