“Harvey Moore (1916-1960) was an avid outdoorsman and naturalist. In 1944, he purchased property from Harriet Molyneaux and began to establish a bird sanctuary for migratory waterfowl. His vision for the 120 acre property was to create a safe staging area for migrating waterfowl that travelled along the Atlantic Flyway, but also to provide safe habitat for resident wildlife. ”

“Great place to go to the warmest waters north of the Carolinas. Also a bit of history here with the ships railroad that was planned but never quite completed to bring the cargo ships of old across land to the Bay of Fundy from the Atlantic ocean. Amazing amount of work involved, and quite the story!”

“The Dromore Woodland Trails consist of four sections totalling roughly 14 km (including loops and connectors). It provides numerous route choices for short, half-day or full-day hiking experiences. As the ever-present Island breeze soughs through the trees, feel its cooling breath on your face. Follow the sunlight filtering through the canopy, stippling the tree trunks. Find the tunnel entrances of small creatures in banks a”

“Beech Hill Park is nice... especially for a picnic (has tables and washrooms), games (some kind of Frisbee basket game is set up), sledding, or a hike (has trails). ***BUT*** ask me about the *other* Walker Road trails on the other side of the same exit: longer woodsy trail walks, snowshoe trails, warming huts, and excellent cross country trails (including a groomed trail).”

“This freshwater swimming area also features a small park for kids. It’s the nearest place to go swimming outdoors, but check it out before you go in: it’s equally notorious for occasional high bacteria counts and leeches. But if the lifeguard is on duty, you’re generally safe to swim.”

“We are surrounded by water and beaches here on the Island. But if you seek a secluded beach with warm water this is a great option. Only 13 minutes away by car this beach has so much to offer.”

“It could be a continuous beach along Souris coast. You will like to wet your feet and look for seaglasses which is a unique finding here. And at Basinhead youngsters will try jumping from the wood bridge into the water and then to be drifted onto shore by the waves.”
