“Visiting Trondheim without going to the cathedral is like visiting Paris without climbing the Eiffel Tower. It is quite touristy and expensive, but for most people a must-do. And you can choose to admire it from the outside for free. If you go inside, I recommend to pay the extra 50 NOK to go up to the tower, with a great view of Trondheim.”

“Trondheim Torg is a shopping center located at the square in Trondheim. The shopping center has 73 shops and seven dining areas spread over four floors. The center was established in 1992 as a counterweight to City Syd, which is located outside the city and which is among Norway's largest shopping centers. After the expansion in 2002, which was based on a whole quarter, a number of wooden houses along the Prinsens gate became part of the center. This expansion meant that Trondheim Torg is now one of the largest shopping centers north of Dovre. [1]”

In the summer season, the island is now a popular departure point, with opportunities for swimming and sunbathing. There is also a café there and a small restaurant with outdoor seating. There is a boat from Ravnkloa in Trondheim. Munkholmen has a rich history and is protected. You hear about Munkholmen in Snorre, where it is called Nidarholm and was used as a courtyard. Until the Reformation, Nidarholm Monastery was on the island. In the 17th century, the name Munkholmen was used, and the fortress of Munckholm was established. Parts of the fortress is today a landmark. The fortress was used as a state prison, and the most famous prisoner sitting there was Peder Schumacher Griffenfeld. The French author Victor Hugo wrote the novel Fangen on Munkholmen about his captivity here. During World War II, the Germans built fast”
