Food & Drink scene - Manchester

Hungry? Thirsty? Looking for local recommendations? My home is located about 1-mile from downtown Manchester (you can walk, if you like walking, or you can drive, and there is free parking on Main St), which is populated by individual-owned businesses, eateries, breweries, restaurants, retail markets, and the like. A short 7 minute drive in the opposite direction will take you to the retail area of Manchester, where you will find all the chains: Walmart, Target, Trader Joe's, Olive Garden, Home Depot, Lowes, Starbucks, McDonald's, Panera Bread, etc. I will especially try to focus on the locally owned businesses in this Guidebook. Welcome to Manchester and the Greater Manchester area!
Our local mom & pop owned coffee shop, great vibe, music on Friday and Saturday nights, great place to set up your laptop and do work. Also in these COVID times offers outdoor seating and curbside pickup.

Grocery Stores

A local Indian grocery store, very clean, good customer service. We have a growing Indian population in Manchester, and this is probably one of the nicer markets for this kind of food. Located just off of Exit 1 off 384. I live off of Exit 2, so it's very close.

Medium sized grocery store, decent prices, has organic section, good fresh fruits and veggies, clean, usually a quick in and quick out stop. Has both attended check outs and self check out lines. Located right off of Exit 1, nearly across the street from Patel Foods, and only about 3 minutes from my house by car.

Pricey but high quality foods. Excellent meats. Higher end bakery. Locally owned by 1 family who has just 3 or 4 markets. Located off of Exit 4 off 384, perhaps 5 minutes from my house by car.

City/town information

A lovely place to go to West Hartford Center for little restaurants (some locally owned, some larger chains), eateries, craft shops, pottery making, ice cream, spices, etc. BlueBack Square is also right in the West Hartford Center area. Metered parking on the streets for both areas, you can walk from WH Center to Blueback Sq. and vice versa, you don't need to move your car. Cheesecake Factory in BlueBack Square! Approximately 20 minute drive from my house.

The City of Village Charm. A lovely, historic and walkable downtown area, as well as a bustling retail area off of Interstate 84. We have it all! Christmas Tree Shop, Buckland Hills Mall, Manchester Community College, Community Y, several libraries, East Catholic High School, Manchester Regional Hospital, tons of local restaurants, Case Mountain for miles of hiking trails, and Geno, we have Geno Auriemma (UCONN Men's Basketball Coach), who recently opened up Cafe Aura right here in town. Manchester is very close to engineering firms like Gemma (Glastonbury), GKN (Manchester), United Technologies, Pratt & Whitney (East Hartford)... And medical hospitals like St. Francis, CT Children's Hospital/Hartford Hospital (10-15 minutes away), Rockville General Hospital in Vernon (15 minutes away). Also close to colleges... UCONN Storrs Campus (20 minute drive - need car), University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford (20 minutes), University of Hartford (20 minutes), Manchester Community College (3 minutes), Central Connecticut State University (20 minutes). Everything you need is here, or right near here.
