Vänern is the biggest lake in Sweden. It's freshwater and, in the summer, it's great for swimming and fishing. But you can also just admire the view from the shoreline and take in the fact that you can't see the end of it.

Prässebo is a small town on the edge of a lake. It has the best swimming possibilities (according to my children).

Sjökullen is the closest lake to our property. It's a great little lake, surrounded by forest and fields. There is no official badplats here so I wouldn't recommend it for families with small children.

Gravlången is a beautiful lake for swimming, hiking, fishing and kayaking.
City/town information
Trollhättan is the centre of our area and offers a wide variety of activities. If you like the outdoors, Vargön is a great place to visit. Also, the sluss area is a sight. For culture, Trollhättan has a rich theatre scene. Check, for example, the Riksteater.

Alingsås is another great town to visit. We particularly like it for its awesome cafes and outside boutiques.

Vänersborg is Trollhättan's little sister and a great way to spend some time in a city without getting the 'city blues'. Because Vänersborg is right by Vänern, it also offers great cafes by the shore.

Upphärad is our closest town where you can find a small shop (Tempo) and a Pizzeria. For kids, there are two great playgrounds in the centre.

Sjuntorp is our neighbouring town and slightly larger than Upphärad. It has three lakes with some swimming spots. It also has another small supermarket (Coop) and horse riding schools.
