Food Scene

Great food, great drinks, and cheap movies where they bring the food to you while you watch! Protip #1: you can reserve a booth if you buy your tickets early, which is great for a group. Protip #2: you can buy drinks in the theater, but the bar has a much better selection, and their margaritas are not to be missed. If you show up early, get drinks at the bar and they'll let you carry them in to the theater.

Awesome Tibetan, Indian and Nepalese food. Their chai tea is amazing. Tingmo with a selection of dips and momos are the thing to have if you've never tried Tibetan food before. The naan is excellent, and they'll do it with garlic or cheese if you want. Anything from their tandoor oven is going to to be great, and I love the palak paneer!

Arts & Culture

This is the big dog of Alaska museums. It has everything from a great kids area, a planetarium with a great variety of shows, and art, science and history galore. They swung a deal that allows them to be part of the Smithsonian Institution, so they can take all the best Alaska artifacts out of the vaults in DC to display it here.

This is a cool little (free) museum almost nobody knows is there, but that has some great artifacts. Make some time to chat up the curator, and you'll make some fun discoveries.

A smaller, higher-end grocery store, with a great (for a grocery store) buffet, a lot of Asian specialty foods, and a truly legendary seafood counter. These guys contract directly with the seafood processors and noone can touch their price/quality. If you're looking for Alaska king crab, salmon, etc. or Hawaiian seafood like ahi tuna or poke, go here. Two locations.

Parks & Nature

Ice skating in the winter, lots of birds in the summer, this is a beautiful, pleasantly busy place with a nice playground. It sits at the intersection of two long, paved trails, the coastal Trail and the Chester Creek trail. Either one is good for biking and walking in the summer, and are groomed and lit for cross country skiers in the winter.
