The Wairoa Golf course is a reasonably challenging but well maintained course just outside of town. It is often deserted during the week so you can have the place to yourself. You will need your own clubs. $20 green fees for 18 holes.

The Wairoa lighthouse is an iconic feature in the heart of Wairoa township. It's beautifull copper dome shines in the sunlight during the day and at night its original crystal lamp sends its beams of light sweeping over the countryside. The lighthouse is visible day and night from Hillcrest AirBnB.
