Drinks & Nightlife
Mama Liz's is a restaurant/bar. We love this place for it's delicious Southern soul food, cocktails and the laid back atmosphere. It's quiet and relaxing in the day time, but if you want to party it's one of the few places to go to stay out late and is a firm favourite for the locals.

The Tobie Norris is a pub/restaurant and is a favourite with the locals. Converted from a very old Stamford building, it is full of little rooms with lots of character and charm. There's a great selection of good quality wines, beers and spirits and a good choice of delicious food if you want to stop in for lunch or dinner. It's for a mid range budget as it isn't the cheapest place, but also won't break the bank.

Food Scene
We love to go to the Melbourn Bros after work on a Friday for a couple of relaxing drinks. Brewing their own stock means their prices are one of the lowest in town, and their fruit beers are delicious, my personal favourite is the cherry one. They also serve good, cheap food, so is a great stop for lunch or dinner. It's also one of the oldest buildings in town, so is a really interesting building with lots of nooks and cranny's, and exposed beams. They don't have music or wifi, and the internet signal is poor, so no technology. Be prepared to unwind, switch off and play the odd board game instead!

The 8848 is our favourite place to get an Indian, good range of delicious food and thanks to the Nepalese influence there are things that you wouldn't normally find in a curry house.

One of my favourite places to go for lunch with the girls. This is another locally owned gem which serves a great range of food, good drinks and huge, delicious slices of cake. The Fine Food Store is hugely popular so it can be tricky to get a table, so time it well! In good weather try and grab a table on their hidden terrace overlooking the meadows.

Sightseeing
Burghley House is one of my favourite places in Stamford, although I must admit I've never been inside the house - other than a couple of the rooms on a ghost tour. It is an absolutely beautiful building and the grounds are lovely to have a picnic in - if the weather is kind. Quite often they'll be sheep in certain parts of the grounds and at some points in the year we have a herd of very tame small deer. The Gardens of Surprise are good to explore and there is a lovely water fountain area that the kids go wild for in the summer.

Getting Around
This is the location of the local train station, where you can get a train to Peterborough, Oakham, Stansted Airport, Birmingham and many more locations. It is a very pretty little station and if you plan to use it please let me know as I can give you some short cuts to get there and back.

This is the local bus and coach station. Personally I have never used the bus service in my time in Stamford, but should you need any information I will be happy to do some research for you.

Entertainment & Activities
This is a great local venue, it's a short drive from Stamford but is worth it. You can hire a paddle board or two person canoe for just £5 for an hour, including wet suit hire. You can also wake board, wind surf and there are also jet skis, a dry ski slope, a climbing wall and a swimming pool. Lots to keep the family or big kids entertained.

Here you will find the local swimming pool, a 25 metre free form pool that has a wave machine and a water slide. They also have early morning and evening adult swim sessions, a gym and aqua classes, to make sure your fitness regime doesn't slip while you're away... although I won't judge if you fill up on all the delicious cakes from the various cafes in town!

This is the biggest supermarket in town and also the only place I go to get fuel - it's the cheapest local forecourt.

Parks & Nature
There is a pedestrian footpath on Bath Row that takes you onto the Stamford Meadows, a lovely area of Greenland, flanked by the River Welland on both sides. On a sunny day you will find locals there enjoying picnics, playing games, feeding the ducks, reading and relaxing. Make sure you grab an ice cream from the van at the bridge and take some time to enjoy the views from this lovely piece of greenery.

For some reason Airbnb has dropped the pin for this in the wrong location, but if you look for the Burghley House pin you'll be heading in the right direction. The grounds around Burghley house are lovely, lots of greenery, grazing sheep and at certain times of the year there are quite tame deer roaming around too. It is a great place to go for a walk away from the crowds and get some peace and quiet and some fresh air.
