it’s a nice walk, and lots to see, do and eat along the way. I really enjoy the river boat rides, and you can take a paddle boat out on the lake side.

this is a labor of love by the guy who constructed it, Jim Bishop. It is basically a road side attraction in the middle of no where- beautiful drive to get there, self guided “tour” or more accurately, just wandering around the place! Some of it is a bit scary!

Just a cool little place that you have to know how to find! Best at night when all the neons are lit. Near the Union Depot.

you can drive up, or take a tour to the top of the mountain. The cog rail road is currently closed, but there are many ways up- you can even bike up if you are up to it! Remember that altitude sickness is a very real thing, if you come from a lower elevation, do not go up to Pikes Peak until you have been in here for a few days

2 hour scenic train ride. We’ve taken it for the special Christmas ride with Santa, which was really a great way for the kids to see Santa. They have dining rides which would be a very memorable date night, and the train runs daily, weather permitting, throughout the year.

Things to do
there is a great selection of pottery to paint, the price includes the paint time, and firing. Prices range as low as $8 all the way up to the $80, so something for everyone. You do not need to be an artist to enjoy this type of creating! and there are some really practical pieces, my favorites include the soap dispenser, and spoon rests, as you might notice

this is one of my favorite all time zoos. You can feed the giraffes any time, there is also rhino feeding, elephant feeding, budgie feeding - one of the “enclosures” for the wallabies you walk through, so you can pet them if they are close enough. I have never been to such an interactive zoo, the grizzly bears have a history of messing with the visitors as well, through the glass of course! the ski lift is also cool - takes you over the top of a bunch of the enclosures.

this park is really a full day of activity. The bridge is the tallest suspension bridge in America, and there is so much to do besides just seeing the bridge, depending on wind, you can take a gondola ride across the gorge, kids rides and awesome play area and if you are up for it - a zip line across the gorge!

the staff here has always been great to us and the kids. Sushi is fresh and the kids enjoy the teriyaki chicken. parking is weird, the restaurant is not facing the street- parking is on Union, then you walk around the corner toward the river walk to get to the front door. They have designated parking in the back, but that is also a bit hard to find
