Head up to Cloud Croft to see the amazing view of White Sands from atop the mountain. On your way back down, stop at the Old Apple Barn for fudge, old time soda, and souvenir shopping. Just be aware, doors close at 5 p.m.

Not just a casino. It has several bars inside the casino and three four restaurants ranging from pricey (Wendell's) to burgers to large buffet. They also have live music in the bar that's inside the gaming room on some weekend nights. The casino itself is well lit, several live craps and roulette tables in addition to the normal poker tables, and friendly employees that will teach you how to play the table games. Best casino outside Las Vegas.

better than cloudcroft is to drive towards cloudcroft from alamogordo and about 15 minutes up the mountain pull off at the trestle bridge parking lot. Park and turn around to see the fabulous views of white sands.

Good, old fashioned waffle shop menu from pecan pancakes to chicken-fried steak. This is a local hot spot for breakfast because the food is great, the owners are fantastic and are almost always there working and socializing with the customers. Food is cooked where you can see and everyone is friendly.

This is a nice place to have a bite and a drink while sitting on the covered patio. The area is off the main drag so you don't have all the traffic and noise from the cars and trucks, but very easy drive up First Street from White Sands Bvd. Good prices, friendly staff.
