Restaurant suggestions

Some restaurant suggestions around Seeb and Muscat
Traditional Arabic dish originating in Yemen - meat and rice prepared with a special blend of spices. Traditionally eaten by hand in a shared plate. Comes with salad. When inside, ask for a family room. And if you are overwhelmed by the amount of food you have ordered, you can also ask for a box and take the leftovers home for a midnight snack :-)

A tourist attraction with a lovely atmosphere, with a possibility to be seated both inside and outside (in a restaurant area as well as private rooms). My personal favourite starter is a mezze plate that comes with traditional Yemeni bread and dips like hummus and baba ghanoush. You can order more bread if you love it as much as I do! For the main dish, I would recommend rice with meat, but there's plenty to choose from. For dessert, you can try the local Omani dish Umm Ali, made of bread and sweet milk. Also, juices are great and some of them are served in the fruit shells (like the virgin pina colada and pineapple juice). Finally, shisha lovers will not be disappointed as they serve shisha made out of fresh watermelon. Prices are European and the place rater touristy - but it's worth a visit. P.S. don't get discouraged by the line at the entrance - they typically have space and will find you a seat within 5-10 minutes.

Great place for fish lovers - you can order a grilled hamour for two people), for example. Vegetarians will also feel at home with all those Arabic dips with fresh bread available to order. https://maps.app.goo.gl/8hy2C

A must see for any visitors that love nature and don't mind a bit of a hike! Tip: leave early (very early) so you can enjoy your day there and make sure you don't miss the boat that takes you back to your starting point.

That's where you will taste the best halwa - a local Omani dish made of clarified butter, spices and nuts. You may want to buy some to gift to your family and friends back home, too.

A beautiful place for an overnight stay. Enjoy the local food, shisha, tea and kahwa (Arabic coffee), see the sunrise/sunset, chill at the swimming pool, ride camels, see the Beduin village nearby, ride the sand waves... Awesome place to relax with family or a group of friends! Tip1: make sure you have a four-wheeler if you decide to go into the desert by yourself. Otherwise, or if you are not an experienced driver, stay safe and check for organised transport. Tip2: dress warm for the night as the nights are chilly there!
