Medieval Abbey remains & Visitor Centre-"talking heads" and large display of Anglo-Saxon archaeological finds. Well worth hiring a headset commentary.

Over 100 years old. Spans the River Esk. Connects the more modern West side of Whitby with the original, historic East Whitby. At high tide gates at each end are closed and the bridge swings open to allow the dredger, fishing boats, yachts etc. to move in or out of the Upper Harbour.
