Closest restaurant to the house, about 15 minutes away. Great food in a recently renovated building. The pork tenderloin is awesome as well as the steak. If it's after 4 pm on Friday or Saturday, ask for the Creek Fries.

Located just across the road from Smackwater Cove, the general store is a good place to get food staples without having to drive all the way to Tell City. They have a small fridge and freezer section for milk, eggs, cheese, meat, frozen meals, and ice cream as well as several shelves for non-perishables, some fresh produce, and take-and-bake pizzas. They also sell firewood.

Hiking/Biking
There are many trails in the area and these are just a few of our favorites
1.2-mile loop trail of moderate difficulty located about 40 minutes away. Accessible year round. Beautiful rock formations and the potential for 2 awesome waterfalls if it has rained recently. If not, the half cave under the waterfall located on the optional side loop is worth the hike.

Hemlock Cliffs
National Forest Road1.2-mile loop trail of moderate difficulty located about 40 minutes away. Accessible year round. Beautiful rock formations and the potential for 2 awesome waterfalls if it has rained recently. If not, the half cave under the waterfall located on the optional side loop is worth the hike.
This is the Ohio River Bluff Trail
3.1-mile out and back trail of moderate difficulty about an hour away. Take the Ohio River Scenic Byway to get there and you won’t mind the drive. This trail follows the river and has some amazing views about halfway through where there is a picnic shelter. There is also a Nature Center nearby that has some reptiles and animals on display. If you are out this way, however, I highly recommend the Overlook Restaurant in Leavenworth for their amazing views and the chicken pot pie!
Mouth of Blue River Nature Preserve
This is the Ohio River Bluff Trail
3.1-mile out and back trail of moderate difficulty about an hour away. Take the Ohio River Scenic Byway to get there and you won’t mind the drive. This trail follows the river and has some amazing views about halfway through where there is a picnic shelter. There is also a Nature Center nearby that has some reptiles and animals on display. If you are out this way, however, I highly recommend the Overlook Restaurant in Leavenworth for their amazing views and the chicken pot pie!
4.2 mile loop trail of moderate difficulty about 20 minutes away. This trail has a great forest setting and is mostly level. This one is used a lot for horse riding so watch out for presents! Also great for mountain biking.

.9-mile out and back trail about 10 minutes away. This trail is sometimes not well maintained in the summer but is a popular camping trial. There is usually a small waterfall near the end of the trail.
