The drive to, and through, Ghost Ranch is not to be missed. It's about 10 miles north and you'll see loads of gorgeous red and ochre yellow rock. Amazing geology around here! In Ghost Ranch, you can park and wander through museums or take a hike.

Lovely facility with mineral pools, mud baths, and saunas to soak away your stress, aches and pains! Cute gift shop attached, and has one of the best restaurants around! And, it's just 40 minute drive away! They also have private pools and therapeutic massage.

Just 5 miles to this wonderful general store for groceries, gas, huge sandwiches, tamales and deli, beer and wine, gifts for yourself and the people back home, greeting cards, hunting-fishing-camping gear, and local color! It's amazing how much stuff they pack in there! The Frosty Cow pop-up in the parking lot -open Memorial day to Labor Day - has delicious ice cream.

Where the locals go to eat! Authentic New Mexican dishes and the Farolito Hamburger is a great value. They know how a cook a burger. This place is tiny, so may have to wait for a table. In the winter, they make some of the best posole we've every had! You can BYOB.

This local institution, about 25 minutes away, has delicious, authentic New Mexican cuisine in an old-world ambience. Full bar with a selection of margaritas, and fantastic sopaipillas! Highly recommended.

This charming restaurant is always listed as one of the best in NM, and we support that claim! It's a 45 minute drive, past shops that sell the famous Ortega and Trujillo weavings. The red chili from Chimayo is different from other areas in NM - it's a deeper red and a richer, more complex flavor. So good! They have a full bar. They take reservations and it's a good idea to make one if it's tourist season.
