For a quick bite on the go, head to Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur (The City's Best Hot Dogs) for, well, just that! This hot dog stand has been open since 1937 and has served thousands of hungry locals and tourists alike (including Bill Clinton!). You'll want to order it with everything: crispy onions and fresh onions on the bottom, and their special brown mustard, remoulade, and ketchup drizzled on top.

The place is a small courses bar with a large selection of exotic dishes influenced by Peru and Japan. There is a strong emphasis on a good selection of wines by the glass, especially sparkling wines from all over the world, as well as great cocktails

The Marshall house just opened up in 2017 and houses the Contemporary art museum, Gallerí Kling og Band and the studio of the famous Ólafur Elíasson. On the first floor, you will also find a fantastic restaurant and bar with great cocktails and coffee. The look of the place is exquisite and hard to believe it once hosted a herring factory. The reason for the name “Marshall house” comes from the fact that the house was built with funds provided by the US after the second world war. These funds are linked with George Marshall a general and later the minister of external affairs. This place is one for the food and contemporary art lovers!

In 2001 archaeological remains were excavated in Aðalstræti, which turned out to be the oldest relics of human habitation in Reykjavík. A wall fragment was found dating before 871 AD. During the excavation a hall or a longhouse was found as well, from the tenth century. The hall and the wall fragment are now preserved at their original location as the focal point of an exhibition about life in Viking Age Reykjavík called The Settlement Exhibition Reykjavík 871±2

"Hallgrímskirkja stands guard over Reykjavík. The church is both a parish church and a national sanctuary in Iceland. Its stepped concrete facade is an ode to modernism and a reminder of the Icelandic landscape. The church is named after the 17th-century clergyman Hallgrímur Pétursson, author of Hymns of the Passion. Hallgrímskirkja is an Evangelical-Lutheran church and is a part of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Iceland. Hallgrímskirkja is one of the most visited places by tourists in Iceland. Every day thousands of people visit the church. Admission to the church is free. Admission to the tower is ISK 1000 - ISK 100 for the children (7-16). " www.hallgrimskirkja.is
