This is the largest aquarium in the Mediterranean founded in 2005. The Cretan Sea has always been known for the huge diversity of marine life and the beautiful rock formation. Crete Aquarium depicts marine life with upgraded and impressive presentations of natural landscapes, offering visitors a chance to see rare sea living creatures. In the aquarium, there are more than 100 different areas for 2,500 Mediterranean and tropic sea creatures and species. Crete Aquarium aims to offer visitors a fascinating place of entertainment to learn about the Mediterranean marine life using modern methods that apply to all ages. It has large halls equipped with the latest audio-visual systems for exhibitions, speeches and conferences. Documentaries about the marine ecosystem are also screened throughout the day. Alongside the educational aspect, Crete Aquarium offers important insight into the marine ecosystem and the extensive range of creatures. It is open daily throughout the year.

The archaeological site of Knossos (Knosós GR: Κνωσός) is sited 5 km southeast of the city of Iraklion.
There is evidence that this location was inhabited during the neolithic times (6000 B.C.) . On the ruins of the neolithic settlement was built the first Minoan palace (1900 B.C.) where the dynasty of Minos ruled.
This was destroyed in 1700 B.C and a new palace built in its place.
The palace covered an area of 22,000sq.m, it was multi- storeyed and had an intricate plan. Due to this fact the Palace is connected with thrilling legends, such as the myth of the Labyrinth with the Minotaur.

Agia Pelagia is a small coastal town with a lovely beach. Actually, is a collection of small villages and beaches, of which the main beach is most to the east, with a small ‘boulevard,’ decorated with restaurants, cocktail bars, super markets for fresh bread and other local products and produce, pharmacy and a doctor's office, car and bike rentals, tourism and sightseeing offices, internet cafe and an ATM (automatic cash machine). . Agia Pelagia has a friendly atmosphere, with a beautiful bay with fisher boats in the water and green rocks rising from the sea. It is a very green place with palm trees and flowers. Agia Pelagia has just about West of the main beach there are three other, quieter beaches with less facilities. One of the favourite beaches is the one in the middle, with only a small shop selling beverages and ice cream. This beach is the best because of the beautiful rocks on the left hand and because of its peaceful atmosphere. The first beach west of the centre of Agia Pelagia is called Kladissos.
The second beach you come across if you walk in the eastern direction is called Psaromoura. The third beach is called Mononaftis and looks out on a splendid green rock rising from the sea. The inhabitants of Agia Pelagia live off agriculture. That is why in between restaurants and hotels, you will find many fields where herbs and vegetables are grown. Onions, cabbage and many other kinds of vegetables grow everywhere. In the center of Agia Pelagia you will find a super market, tourism offices, pharmacy, an ATM, tourist and souvenir shops and the taxi stand
