Food scene
This is a must do summer or winter, on a Friday night (5-8pm). Such a unique place for a meal. The owners are so hospitable they even provide hot water bottles and blankets in the colder months. Very busy in the summer you will need to order your pizza base early. You can decide on toppings once you get there.
We recommend going in the winter. This is our absolute favourite eatery (they even do takeaways).

If you or your family are keen mountain/trail bikers then this is a great place to spend some time.

On a beautiful day this is a lovely tramp. The trails are of a high standard and the views are amazing. Be warned though, the weather can turn at any moment so make sure you are prepared for bad weather whenever going into the mountains.

If you go early enough, you might even spook a deer sleeping near the tracks. A picnic at Donnelley's Flat is very achievable, even with very young children.

If you are a keen tramper or just love spending time in the bush Mt Holdsworth Campground is the gateway to the forest with many day walks available to be enjoyed. If you go early enough, you might even spook a deer sleeping near the tracks. A picnic at Donnelley's Flat is very achievable, even with very young children.

Jason and Sally-Ann offer scenic rides into the Tararua Range (when weather permits) and if you are a keen hunter then Jason and his team know all the best spots. Get in early for the roar though as there are only so many huts up there to base your group from.
