Creating a real-life Medieval Castle in the Highlands of the Eastern Free State was a task of epic proportions. A 2-Part Mission undertaken with vision, patience and sensitivity, Castle construction was completed by the dedicated and unwavering Fogg family at the beginning of this century. A journey started with the building of a road clear up a mountainside. All the way through intensive international research and sourcing, to the final resting of hundreds of tons of natural sandstone on a working farm estate already rich with natural beauty and steeped in cultural history.

Ventersberg Stables is situated near Fouriesburg in the Eastern Free State, on the border of Lesotho. The stables can be seen from Natures Loft, being a bordering property.
Established in 2001, we offer customised horse riding experiences in the scenic Brandwater Basin, surrounded by the Witteberg, Rooiberg and Maluti mountain ranges.
Circular routes (1-4 hours and day trips)
Sundowner and moonlight rides (2 hours)
