Nice walking area with views of the Bay, boating & many restaurants. There's sometimes live music or other events. They also host a farmer's market every Sunday 9am-2pm. You can also find live music in the nearby downtown Oakland area, or walk over to China Town for a low cost but delicious meal.

Parks & Nature
There is a string of large wilderness parks with hiking trails along the north east edge of Oakland. The closest one is called Robert's Park, which you can drive to by taking High St uphill to the T intersection & turn right. Turn left at the next T intersection, & go up the hill to another T intersection, which is Redwood Road. Take a right turn & follow all the way up the steep hill. Turn left on Skyline. Watch for the sign where Skyline turns right up another hill! Then park along the road at one of the many walking trail heads you will see from the road.

This Mediterranean style restaurant doesn't look like much but I've never had better lamb, hummus and lentil soup! The friendly owner will make sure you don't leave hungry or disappointed. They also do breakfast. Very affordable!

The seating area is plain and you have to wait in line (often a long line) to order your food at the steam table from this husband and wife team. You can eat in or take out. Very affordable prices. I think their hours are 11am-8pm TUE - SAT, but not sure about that.

This gourmet breakfast place is medium priced but the food is exceptional, with homemade pastries, homemade potato hash, high quality omelets, excellent coffee and friendly service. YUM. Expect a 30-60 minute wait on weekends!
